A terrific idea.  Will you be furnishing us with a route?

I might.

Look out for COR and closed sections on the way home though

Here you go:

I have sent you down the Braxted Wall after Tiptree but you can freestyle that bit as you please -  I will be in bed by then.

Most wonderful. Will you be departing from Witham with us?

That is my intention.

Please note that my glamorous assistant (DL) had spotted a bit of unintentional (honest) COR.  Now fixed, so if you have already downloaded then you might want to reload.

DL had been threatening to come out with us this week but he is currently restricting his MEMWNS involvement to taunting AndyC33 while out riding with his new MADCC friend and inspecting my routes.

Well done Fluffy, your route has just flown into my Garmin with no bother at all.

Proposed agenda item for tomorrow evening's discussion ...

Given that I love a bit of forward planning I have been giving some thought during idle moments to my 2016 week long cycling adventure.  The working title of said adventure is "The mid-Essex yacf Spreading the Love Tour".  I have some outline ideas which perhaps we can discuss if time allows.

Of course if DL shows his impish little face the evening will be taken up with ripping the pi55 out of him - obviously.  In fact even if he doesn't turn up we can still spend the evening ripping the pi55 out of him  ;D

Ah yes, "the OD slightly creepy stalking tour"  :o

I suppose you just need to persuade everyone to turn on glympse so you can track them down.

The imp will not be out for a few weeks yet I suspect.  He maintains a watching brief over this thread though.

Two working titles!  How many should any self respecting project have?  ;D

'Essex Boys Go Slightly Further Off-Route' covers most things...

Forward planning is good, we'd not have got to the Alps without it.

I've abandoned much of the original plan, it just wasn't working. The latest iteration involves less stalking unfortunately.

I will most likely meet you at either of the 2 pubs. I am going to check out a pub in the vicinity for Epiphany potential!

As I am not going to be in sunny Barcelona for the next couple of days on a work trip I'll plan to be at Spa Rd for 7:30 this evening (barring other hinderances of the American type) to join in with the much preferred damp roads ride to the Donkey & Buskins

I should be around and will aim to get to Spa Rd for 7:30.  If I'm not there, don't wait, I'll likely catch you all at one or other of the pubs.

Incidentally,  in the Oaky household, for reasons of getting the Acorns off to guides/brownies with minimal fuss, Wednesday nights are beans on toast nights.

On some occasions I get all conscientious about entering my food, exercise etc. into MyFitnessPal (apparently more for self-shaming purposes rather than any discernible weight loss).  MyFitnessPal has a feature where if it sees a food you eat often, and there are other foods you pair with it, it will list them for you to make adding them easier.  When I enter heinz baked beans it offers me the following:-

Found one more section of what I understand to be CORtastic on tonight's route. Between Copford and Fountain lane.

My train has messed up and my epiphany research was done by phone so I mat attempt to intercept y'all on the road.

Right past the sewage farm too... the google streetview car didn't make it all the way along.  I suspect it's still there somewhere.

I've routed myself a slightly longer way, using actual roads.

(I've also routed differently through and out of Tiptree to avoid Pennsylvania Rd).

Edited to add: here's my variant :)  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/10893601

A night of many visitations, lots of COR and a good sized peloton.

My attempt to reach Spa was aborted after 2 visitations which meant putting my hand up for the team car followed by a change of bike. I set off to intercept by riding the route the wrong way. That is until I reached the bit of COR that I had managed to sneak in.  When my wheels started to disappear into the mud I realised it was something for others to enjoy

There was still no sign of the Witham gang and it was past beer o'clock so I headed towards the Fox where I found Oaky lurking in the beer garden.  He had caught the peloton at coggeshall hamlet only to have a visitation. The merciless peloton only stops for Huggy so he made his own way to the pub.

We were just tucking into a woodforde wherry when what looked like a model of an oil rig appeared on the road outside.  This turned out to be Doggers Lane whose Xmas lights had been turned on early.  He was in company with Andy Quaffer, the Danbury Dogger, Huggy, the Epiphanist, OD, Tomsk and Ian (the something commuter ?).  The peloton had indeed stopped for a Huggy visitation and had been slowed down by the COR past the sewage farm.

We sampled various delights from Adnams with Ghost Ship taking the Quaffers' Choice award.  Our new treasurer-elect was put under pressure, both with the previous incumbent assessing his performance and a large unruly group, but performed admirably. It can only be a matter of time until OD makes the appointment permanent.

All in all a great night with encouraging numbers for a damp autumnal evening.

OD will no doubt be on to explain how his 300k time trial on fully-laden tourers works...

It was indeed an excellent evening, with so many riders - it makes my heart sing   And to think in days gone by it would just be 3 or 4 of us.

Congratulations must go to ted for a superb route, although some of us should be ashamed of themselves for purposely missing out some epic COR  ::-)  ted also deserves credit an excellent post ride report - all the more noteworthy when you consider English isn't his first language.

And finally I think we must all extend our congratulations to DL and Mrs Dogger's Lane on the breaking of their exciting news.  I don't think we've had a MEMWNS baby before.  Surely its only right that the happy couple allow us to have a hand in naming the new baby when it appears in February.  DL did indeed look like an oil rig as keenly observed by The Bard so perhaps we can turn to North Sea oil and gas fields for inspiration.  A quick Google offers us Trent or Vulcan for a boy and Audrey for a girl.
