Square & Compasses, Fuller Street & Leather Bottle, Pleshey, have both worked well before. Ideally a 20 mile loop, followed by a direct run of 10 or so back to base. If you'd like to suggest any pub half way between Dunmow and Witham,  that'd probably work!

I'm going to be out this wednesday (along with chief).

Are you going further afield [for chief!] than the 'Compasses'? David and and I will be out for a ride, destination unknown.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

I didn't make the  'bottle last time if you guys fancy it again?  I'm spending time after work sorting loft stuff still so the more local the better for me.

If we did do the Bottle again, I could try again to do it via the completely gratuitous North Hill route.

Equally, I could do that with any of the other obvious options too.

I'm contemplating joining you at the LB, as long as my navigational skills don't let me down!
If I come out to play I'll aim for 9 too  :)

 Hopefully see you later then.

I'm taking a slightly roundabout route tonight, in order to scoot (if that's the right word) up North Hill.  I'd be setting off around 7ish (possibly 7:15ish).  You're welcome to join if you fancy a gratuitous hill climb.  I will PM you my mobile number in case you don't still have it from the other weekend.

I'll be taking a more direct route home.

Drunkenly meandering around on the lanes late at night is not a more direct route home. :P

Yes, that's the type of offer I was afraid may come back when I posted   :-\
I guess I'm game for that if you don't mind coming back to pick up my lungs that I'll be leaving half way up North Hill   :o

>29 miles ~(my computer came out of its bracket on the way home and missed some. ... I had 18 or 19 at Pleshey so I reckon about 32 is plausible).

5 attendees, which makes it the highest turnout this year.  It would have been more but FlitchBikesDavid could't make it in the end.

Tomsk, chief, bloomers100, huggy and myself consumed a few Wherries and Excelsiors.

Two more ascents of north hill (now at 8/52 for the year) :)

To encourage myself to get to 52, I hav, tonight, invented the GdMEMWNS award.

A point is gained for each ascent of North Hill en-route to or from a MEMWNS.  Ascents must start at the "North Hill" sign at the bottom near Papermill Lock, and must go at least as far as the pink house a the corner of North Hill, The Ridge, Colams Lane and Spring Elms Lane.  Repeat ascents are allowed.

"Grimpeurs du MEMWNS" , by analogy with Grimpeurs du Sud (aka GdS).

This Wednesday....The 'Three Elms' Chignal-Whichever-It-Is [Smealy?]. The Dunmow contingent [of 2 - possibly too small to be a contingent] will be taking a circuitous route as usual, posibly via the Rodings and Willingale.

I am available this week. I may put in an appearance. Too early in the week for beer, sadly.

That is only about 2 miles or so from my abode. I may be tempted out. But if it's cold and wet, I won't be!

'tis a nice pub...

Chignal St James I think it is. It's not far from me either, although I should probably be packing for Majorca on Wednesday evening. :smug:

Having selflessly checked this venue out during the seg 75 on sunday i can confirm that a Witham to 3 elms via north hill trip is definitely on the cards.

huggy - if you're interested, I'll be following approximately the same route we took to Pleshey, with a slightly different continuation from Little Waltham.  I'll probably limit myself to a single ascent of North Hill en-route.

Jack and Jenny at 19:15?
