The story now is there was a verbal agreement for Cav to go to Sky, but he recently signed to a new management team, who told him not to sign anything until the Worlds were over.

Sky ride Pinarello but for some reason (possibly personal sponsorship again) Cav wants a Specialised bike.

Maybe he can't fit the hidden electric motor into a Pinarello frame?  ;)

I'm going to watch Paris-Tours at the weekend so if an announcement hasn't been made by then I'll have a word with the lad and find out what the hold up is.  ;D

I'll also rebuke my follicly-challenged source at Sky (if he's there) who told me "he's definitely coming [to Sky]" back in June.

Another very strong addition. Crikey.

Has the team run out of money before signing Cav?

According to this news report, Tony Martin is now riding for Sky!

http://english.cri.cn/8046/2011/10/06/2941s661510.htm

It says:

Team Sky cooperated well to guarantee their star-cyclist Tony Martin retain his overall lead.

Think their journalist needs to check his/her facts a bit more carefully!

That would be a signing and a half. He's gone to Quickstep though, hasn't he?

It's official - at last. The worst kept secret in pro cycling…

A bit of a scare at the end but done and dusted now. As Dave Brailsford said it would be back in June at the Nationals.

A wee bit annoyed that we didn't ask Cav about it when we spoke to him on Sunday morning. We decided not to as he was probably sick of people asking but if he'd signed our Team Sky cap that would have been straight on Ebay and probably funded a weekend away watching another bike race! Oh well.

A good question I've just been asked but don't know the answer to:

What's happening to Erik Zabel now?

Presumably he won't be going to Sky given his past record.

Last I heard, Zabel was going to Katusha.
