Icicles, Alston, Friday 3rd December.

Yad Moss, Saturday 4th Dec 2010.

Yad Moss Snowslope. 4th Dec.

Hartside Cumbria, 5.15 pm 4th Dec.

We had a nice day out skiing at Yad Moss, busy with queues, and a late start due to the tardy arrival of the gritting lorry.
About 200 people on the slope. We met our mate Guido the German maths teacher, made some new Lithuanian friends, and I met what is probably the first skier from the island of  Dominica to sample an English Snowslope. We followed the first gritter to open Hartside to 2 wheel drive traffic after the recent falls.

I thought the icicles we duelled with were impressive, but I stand astonished.

Still plenty of the white stuff in Darlo.  Lots of snow, too.

Walked through to the hospital this afternoon to visit our club vice chair who is having his hip done. This was just about at the golden hour light wise.

Favourite shot of the walk.

Balgay Cemetery in the snow by davidmamartin, on Flickr

The cemetery is on a hill with a fantastic vista over the Tay Estuary.

Far better than the view of the road on which I live. This is after a week of snowploughs since the major snowfalls.

And one more pic from the cemetery. The stone angel now has a veil.

Mike has no plans to visit the cemetery soon and is quite pleased (at 77) to be being in the hospital rather than outside in this weather.

Yep. On my way home from work. The whole lane from Whittington to the Arboretum was icy.

I can't embed them at the moment, but there are some wintry pics of the Environment Centre I work at here, taken by Ivana who runs the place.

St Nicholas Fields: St Nicks Winter Wonderland Gallery

I'm in there, on the trike, wearing the red hat, looking over my shoulder, riding into 6" deep snow...  You can just see the little scoops either side of the front tyre track, where the pedals went below snow level....

If I had a baby elephant, it could help me wash the car. If I had a car.

I think that the 6th one in that gallery (lime trees view) is just round the corner from the spot where CrinklyCub the younger used to like to go to sleep in his pushchair when he was a wee'un and having a grumpy day.  We'd walk round to there, I'd sit on a big lump of rock and read a book whilst rocking the buggy with the other hand and he would look at the trees until he fell asleep.  And yes, I have done it a few times in weather that resembles that photo!
