I've just about managed to cram the arctic camping gear into two panniers, leaving not a lot of room for food or bike stuff.
Going to aim for Stone at 9:30, trains permitting. They won't let me book any bike spaces.

It's looking like -4C overnight. Without an array of ineffectual electric heaters.....we may have to burn the baton to keep warm!

Holy Moly! Time to dig out the heavy bag! Last minute faffage here, I'd planned to use Blue Meanie, but I've put on wide profile cantilevers since I last used him for camping & the panniers are not a good fit with them.

There is a pub, and they at least do fish & chips. I'm just bringing a minimal cookset.

I'm currently having second thoughts about the weather. I was really cold at Kildale, and it can't have got down to zero inside the barn. Even with a couple of jumpers and an extra silk liner I can't imagine -4 is going to be pleasant. And I've been having a bad lung week... $:-\$

AAMOI the local forecast for overnight Saturday is 0*.Still freezing but not quite as bad as minus 4

Met office doesn't have it that cold, Metcheck does. Accuweather has it close to freezing.

The Akto is quite a warm tent as well, there isn't much internal volume to heat up.

I've also got a little candle lantern to try, they are supposed to give off a bit of heat as well.

Hilleberg's instructions used to recommend drying & warming a damp tent by leaving your stove running inside for a while......

You can't dry anything out with a hydrocarbon stove, they give off vast amounts of water vapour!

I too am wearing cycling clothing but no dressing gown.I'll be leaving in the next few minutes.I'll be calling in the Outdoor Co-Operative in Stone en route to meet Kim at the station.
