I'm going to be shouting and screaming about this ride for the weeks and months to come.  If there are not a couple of YACFers on next year's TRAT, I'll feel like I've not shouted loudly enough.

When's the 2009 Race against Time, I wonder?  I have approval to do it, even if it's in term time.

That's fab news!  :D

BST will announce the dates soon.  And as soon as they do, I shall be letting YACF know about it.

I'll be on the TRAT stand at the Earl's Court cycle show in October trying to drum up some publicity as well.

Many many congrats - fantastic effort. Proud to have met you.
Sorry that i am only getting my admiration expressed a little late, but it is heartfelt and genuine -- as of course is everyone else.

Next year - now there is an interesting thought. Will wait to see timetable etc

No.  They wanted me to ride for this year's company charity.

When I said that wouldn't be possible, I was told that I couldn't raise money at work.

Bit crap, I thought.

Bit crap, I thought.

Yes.

It takes a brave man to condemn a children's hospice.

I understood Charlotte to be commenting on her employer's policy of supporting only one charity and vetoing supporting another during working hours.

Seems to be corporate policy these days, my company will only offer match funding if it is a local charity and even then only match 10% of what you raise. A bit narrow minded in my view and I bet less than half of the amount set aside is actually used. I had to spend hours trawling the systems to find out what the policy was, it was very well hidden in our interweb!

Wow - it was the same bike from Liv station stop...it is my only bike....haven't quite moved on to the N+1 theory yet, largely due to lack of storage space for any more!

I think you misread. There's a difference between a policy and a hospice that most people would spot.

Oh, and Charlotte is not a man.  ;)

Funny thing workplace charity, Heather's lot, an environmental charity, faced a staff mini-rebellion when the nominated humanitarian organisation for the Christmas collection had a religious element, (typical atheistic lefties eh!). I think that's why so much corporate giving is to causes which you would need a heart of stone to criticise. Not that it isn't an almost insurmountable temptation to a congenitally contrary Lancastrian.
