Spd sandals disadvantage...

.....  occurred to me this morning on hearing the satisfying fleshy thud of reinforced toe of mtb boot hitting mouth of dog intent on causing me harm.  Was riding fixie, boot still clipped in and spinning, but dog did not account for this.
