Brevet card designs
« on: 28 October, 2010, 04:38:06 pm »
Carrying on from Vorsprungs thread are there any interesting or unusal brevet card designs out there?
My favourites are Discovering Shropshire, Windrush winter warmup & LeJoG.

Not according to my dictionary's definition of the word "Interesting".

Fair point, this is what happens when you're not working & have too much time on your hands  :(

Brevet card designs are a direct pinch of whatever design is on the calendar page

(unless your event has more than 6 or maybe 8 controls in which case you don't get one)

That's not my understanding.

The design is owned by the event owner.  Of course if you took over an established event the design sits on the event planner from year to year waiting for the next owner to inherit or change it.

That's an odd way of putting it.  Whatever design the Organiser puts up gets shown on the Calendar page and the Brevet card

Ok sorry I didn't mean to imply any theft  :) I mean whatever the organiser uploads to the calendar page as a logo in Event Planner appears de facto on the brevet card; if they don't upload one either the default distance (or AAA) medal appears

Though next year, if it is a PBP qualifier, the card design will get trumped by a PBP logo.

If you want to display a logo on on an eight-or-more-box card you can just print your logo onto address labels and stick them on the cards. You can have colour at no extra charge. A lasar printer is a good idea for a waterproof result.

I went one better, I made a Word doc clone of the entire brevet card innards complete with logo and painstakingly copied over the info from the control boxes, I can now print cards onto blanks as required as far in advance of the event as I like.

(this was a direct result of havving one year's cards go awol and get the replacement set the night before the event) However Pam now sends them out a week before so have not a problem since but it's nice to have asource of spare cards if needed. I generally reuse last year's DNS's by sticking new details inside; if these don't get used either they get recycled into the blue bin; don't want to do AUK out of any more funds  :)

Absolutley. I did that too on a recent event, well three actually, the 1, 2 and Three Loops. But I have now desisted, questions were asked when I ordered 100 blanks and I think I have detected a disturbance in The Force. Hear all, see all,  say nowt. :-X

No, I'm still trying to figure out why that bunch of Sausage-munching, Garlic-smelling, siesta-taking, Johnny Foreigners got me sacked from my job in the Diplomatic Corp.
