Drinking tea to further dilute the considerable (for me) quantity of weak beer I drank earlier - what kind of establishment serves NO hot drinks ???. It's rubbish! I think I'd probably better go to bed now though.

The Golding Hop in one of the most lovely and remote parts of Kent (nr Ingtham Mote). One of our friends asked for a pot of tea and the landlord replied 'what do you think we are, a restaurant?'

The Canny Man's, in Morningside, which refused to serve my friend Rhona a hot whisky because "we'd have to boil the kettle" but happily made a coffee for a regular. So, not that they won't serve hot drinks, just that they're arseholes.

The same visit when the landlord brought my second pint of cider to our table rather than make me wait at the bar while they put on a fresh barrel.  :smug:
Haven't been there in ages.  Must find a ride heading out that way some time this summer.

On the subject of hot drinks in pubs, I have always wondered why motoring clubs arrange club meets in pubs, especially ones that don't serve food, tea and coffee.
Having driven to a meet it seems stupid to only have coke (or J2O) or alcohol as the options for the evening.
A nice cafe would be much more sensible.

I am currently finding out the answer to:
'So how difficult can it be changing the duvet cover on a king size duvet while sitting on the sofa with the said duvet and with no ability to stand up with it as my leg is in a cast?'

So far the answer is 'not easy!' but I have all day to get it done now.

Next question will be:
So how difficult can it be hanging up a damp, laundered duvet cover over the shower curtain rail in the bathroom to dry while still having my leg in a cast?'.

  (but in a very affectionate good way)

Taking it easy then?

I'd suggest asking your folks to help. but I think it might be possible to lose both of them inside a kingsize duvet cover!

Have you got any nice strong clips to hand? Clothes pegs, bulldog clips etc? Might help to hold one end of the duvet in place inside the cover while you manoeuvre the rest.

Done! :smug:

The faff comes tonight when I spend all night trying to get the folds and creases out of it.

I can't change the sheet on the mattress though, not even going to attempt that one until you get here. :-*

Waiting for the email backlog to clear (20 min. cycle).  Usually I wouldn't care and just go home, but I'm waiting for a document I need to circulate today.  It has been sent (at least twice) so I must sit here and wait for it to clear the queue.  :(

Looking through a thousand databases of charities to see if I can find one which will assist someone to get a wet floor shower. No luck so far.

Also, hiccupping.

I'm having a big academic grump.  I thought I had a really good idea and had spent a couple of weeks working on it, but someone else has just published the very same idea.  Hey, at least they show that I was right.  Still, that's another thesis chapter and journal article that I don't get to write :(

Wot, no DFG?  I spend a fair bit of my time on similar hunts, but for help to get people warm in winter.  And don't mention "Warm Front", unless a swift kick appeals...  The Government have made sure that scheme is no use to almost anyone, thus saving money to spend on giving it to rich old people in Winter Fuel Payments, including higher rate taxpayers.

Also, wot mcshroom said... (no, not about the CFD paper)

It's HIGs in Scotland, not DFGs, and he only gets 80% of the cost because he's not in receipt of the qualifying benefits he would need to get 100%.
