I just could have done without finding out about 2 (possibly three) bits of homework tonight.  One due tomorrow, one on Wednesday (and one thing that he assures me isn't unfinished-in-class-work-that-needs-completeing-at-home but I'll need to go and check tomorrow).  *sighs*

Now I am listening to the pained expressions of anguish of an actually quite good mathematician trying to do maths homework that he was probably set last Thursday, when he should be in bed.

Well at least it's not poetry.   :-\

(My pained expressions at being made to do poetry homework finally jumped the shark at around EldestCub's age, when by means of procrastination I wrote a poem about how much I hated poetry homework.  One of my biggest regrets is not having the guts to hand it in.)

He was trying to find a lowest common denominator in order to order fractions.
4/16  2/6  3/4   1/2  6/10  and  1/8
It sounded a little like childbirth.

I went for writing all the various fractions on scrap paper pieces and playing higher-lower which tool approximately one minute.  No, it isn't what they've been doing in their maths lessons but it was half past fecking 9 and he was knackered.

I just took an embarrassingly long time to work that out.  I blame tiredness.

Sitting in the phone queue for our internal helldesk. Apparently my call is "very important to them" as they tell me every 30 seconds.

Trying to warm my feet up.

One of the (many) sucky things about diabetes - my core temperature could be stratospheric but I'd still have cold bloody feet  >:( Once the gas man has finished doing his thing, I'm going to go for a little walk to get the circulation going.

I confess I've never seen a formal method for working this out. Had to look it up.
Is the cub being taught method 2 as described in this link?

To be fair, the stratosphere isn't exactly warm by body temperature standards :)

Drinking a Nice Cup of Tea and when I've finished it I will go to see Aunt Phyllis, who wants me to help her fill in a form.

Trying to decide, do I do 26* 1 1/4 or 26* 1 3/8 rims (and tyres) on the Fenton?

The latter would be the same as original (although it had tubs on from new, and I am changing it clinchers) the former is potentially easier to get tyres for, though.  The latter I can get the right rims with the right number of holes, the former I can only seem to find 36 hole ones (I need one 32 and one 40 hole) to be able to re-use the hubs.

Feeling really quite happy after skype-ing my daughter for the last hour.  She looked really well, and was cheerful.  She was rolling fags the whole time which is unfortunate, but we were getting excited about seeing each other for the first time in three years.  Roll on August.

That's really lovely, Lindagordinho.  :)
Young Miss eck is, also unfortunately, partial to the occasional rolly-up but, if she's your daughter, what the hell?
Graduation Day, June 2010  ::-) ;D
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.
