It's brilliant, you feel pissed simply by walking through the door.

Listening to Daniel Barenboim conducting the Staatskapelle Berlin in Wagner's Das Rheingold while putting my bedroom back together.  Also wondering if I should have another G&T.
;D  Andrij.  I pronounce you Complete and Utter GIT

I am watching the smelly noisy death of 1000 bugs in my new UV bug zapper. My kids who both work in pub catering kitchens when not studying are not impressed  ;D

Haven't read the earlier posts, this has to refer to the Crooked House (Glyn Arms)? Do they still serve Banks'

Reading papers on voice recognition to see whether it would be possible to distinguish individual bats as a way to estimate populations and ranges semi-automagically.

It does indeed.  Sadly I've no idea what a Banks' is - presumably something beery.  Attention to this sort of detail is what Basil was supposed to come along for.

The Banks' brewery was just down the road from my student digs. A wonderful aroma to wake up to  :P

Taking over the living room floor laying out LEL kit and trying to work out what I'm forgetting and if there's anything there I don't need to take (I am somewhat prone to overpacking).

Weeping quietly after reading this:

http://www.pedalingnowhere.com/gear/surly-ecr-adventure-bikes/

The ECR is exactly the sort of bike I'm trying to turn my orange Genesis High Latitude into ...  ::-)

(nice pic of the new 'Straggler' too, for those who like their bikes purple and with disc brakes)

Correct - brewed in Wolverhampton.
When I was a student, I don't think there was a pub in Aberystwyth which didn't serve at least Banks' Bitter (personally, I hated the stuff - my poison of choice was draught Bass)

I think my next bike may well be a Straggler.  If it rides as well as a Cross Check, has disc brakes, but can take a hub gear, I don't really have an excuse not to buy.
Getting there...

As for me, I'm worrying that I'm being overoptimistic in setting up the fixed for the commute tomorrow.  Hoping to manage three days this week (Tues; Thurs; Fri).
Getting there...

Apparently it does, yes indeed and absolutely. Respectively. It is, for all intents and purposes, the disc-based Cross Check that the masses (including myself) have been badgering Surly for.

If I weren't so attached to my Genesis Day Ones then I'd be pre-ordering a Straggler.

Hmmm, I haven't even packed snacks yet and I'm nearly at 6kg of stuff. Do you think anyone would notice if I used the motorbike instead of the pedally one?  ;D

And it's purple! :D

Space and funds and other mundanities permitting, I hope the Straggler will be my next bike too.
