Quality alcohol in moderate amounts....it won't cure you, but you'll feel better.

I am trying to resist the temptation to have supper before bedtime.
It's a habit I have avoided for the last couple of weeks & think it is a contributing factor in shedding a bit of weight.
I find it more difficult to cope with feeling hungry than I did with nicotine withdrawal when I stopped smoking

Rachmaninov makes me think of Brief Encounter. Emotionally overwrought in a way that only the great Russian composers could manage (see also Tchaikovsky), but quite magnificent. Perfect soundtrack to that film.

Edit: just checked the listings and seen that it's his Piano Concerto No.2 that's playing tonight, which is indeed the one that's in Brief Encounter. Pretty much the best thing he ever did.

Well, I just booked the cat into ~~prison~~ the cattery for next weekend, so I don't have to worry about him getting his nosh and daily pill whilst I'm on the Dun Run, and the car is booked in for it's (several months overdue) MOT.

I've got to get home early today and (i) put the battery on charge so I can actually drive the car & (ii) try and fit the new wing mirror.

Fitting the mirror shouldn't be too painful, and worse case scenario, I can't get the door panel back on. That would be annoying, but I'm pretty sure it isn't a MOT failure, which the missing mirror may be!

I just set up a Samba PDC with an LDAP backend (and NSS LDAP integration, both needed). Now I have to train our inexperienced IT staff enough about the maintenance of all of this so that they can set up both the replica LDAP server and the Samba BDCs.

This is stuff I'm not supposed to be dirtying my hands with at this point in my career, but my new employers are rather under-resourced in IT terms.
