Wordpress help - members' only area
« on: 10 July, 2019, 08:01:13 pm »
I am fairly new to Wordpress, but have inherited a website which uses it.
I would like to add a members' only section so the general public can see most of the site, but that for one set of pages (basically internal documents for the organisation) you would have to log on. I'm sure there must be a plug-in (or several) which can provide this, but most of the ones I've looked at are very much focussed on monetising the site, which I don't need.
Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Do I just choose a likely looking plug-in and play? Anything to avoid?

Thanks

Do they need to log in individually, or do you want anyone who knows the password to have access?
I know nothing about the first, but the second doesn't need a plugin, when you publish a page you can choose password protected from the drop down menu, it gives you something like this

Thanks, Paul
That might well do and will certainly solve my immediate problem.

I will still keep looking for a more flexible solution, so if anyone else has any ideas...
