Tell me about laptop powerbanks
« on: 29 July, 2019, 11:11:04 am »
I figure a Li-ion powerbank might be a good way of using a mid-sized laptop whose battery is aged. Don't mind carrying an extra box around and connecting the two devices when I use the laptop. I'd be looking to connect to the laptop's 19V DC in. I'd like it to work with different laptops, since the powerbank could outlive the computer.

1. Do they generally come with a selection of laptop power connectors (or are they proprietary?)
2. What would be a sensible budget to set for buying new?
3. Any brands to recommend? Any to avoid?

What is the make/model of the laptop? IME you're better off replacing the laptop battery.

I've come to the same conclusion. New laptop battery was the same price as a reconditioned laptop complete with new battery, so this is what I chose. That solution was more portable than laptop+powerbank.
