Wheel sizes: Which bikes take 16 x 1 3/8 ?
« on: 30 May, 2008, 08:08:04 pm »
So, I'm fixing my Bickerton and losing the hub gear.  A kilo  of steel in the middle of the rear wheel really is silly.
However, the bottom bracket is low to start with.  This means I can't go with a wheel any smaller than the 16 x 1 3/8 it came with.
Which other folders use 16 x 1 3/8?
e.g. Is this the Brompton size?

That's what it says on the tyres of my Brompton...

You might even get a Birdy 18" inch in there - I got 16x1 3/8 on my Birdy OK so it _might_ work the other way and give you a marginally higher BB, depending on clearances and brake reach.  Strangely enough (Birdy) 18 - (Brommie) 16 != 2.

A friend once rode a hilly 100k audax on his Bickerton. By the end the frame had gone all floppy.
