I saw this advertised in CTC Cycleclips, paid my £10 and went along.
The "free" breakfast and lunch was a pleasant surprise.

Building Cycling Cultures

I thought it was brilliant. The presentations were professional and the academic evidence base was impressive. The keynote speech from John Orcott (Policy Director for New York City Transportation) was stunning - they seem to have transformed the street landscape by taking away vast areas of streets that were previously used by cars.

I don't think the conference found any magic solutions to the problems of our low levels of cycling, but the challenges (at least to me) became more clearly defined and I'm re-motivated to keep on working at it.

I think there were more than 100 cyclist campaigners there. Any other YACFers?

I couldn't get to this but would have liked to as I have been to a previous event that one of the academics, Rachel Aldred, ran and Dave Horton spoke at. I liked their approach. Rachel also undertook a cycle instructor training course I was instructing on a few months ago.
