Over Duddingston last night. Wasn't thinking, if I'd gone round the FRONT of the house I'd have got it over Arthur's Seat. D'oh!

Here we go - really quite basic compared to some of the lovely colours on here.

one from the archives:

I was on a work trip in Chile, sat in the back of a sweaty taxi in a traffic jam, late for a meeting.  Grabbed this one out of the window. :D

More sun down than sunset, but the light was interesting

Took this last Saturday...didn't have enough time to get the very best viewing angle for the stones with stones on top of them as I had to get a train home from Westbury (which I missed by 1 minute...thankfully there was another an hour later!!) but it'll do as a first attempt.

Adamski, I love that first one with the light streams from the clouds, but I couldn't help thinking that I expect a big Monty Python cartoon foot to appear and squash everything to the sound of a raspberry blow  ;D

Riggers - simply stunning!  I love how the clouds above the pier twist in the sky & the people on the beach give everything a sense of scale.

Fixedwheelnut: I'm sure a foot could be added using Photoshop or some such program  :)

Yes, thank you both. It was a simply stunning time. As you can imagine, one wanted it to last forever. Sadly, it didn't, but a jolly good job I had m'camera with me.

My favourite place in the world..

Where's that?  Or more importantly, which crag is that?

*thinks*
It's west facing (climbers won't be up early enough to see sunrise), by the sea & it looks like limestone.  So, Gower or Pembroke? (Tho there seems to be an island on the horizon, which is slightly confusing.)

It's Aillaide in Ireland, County Clare. The Island in the distance is one of the Aran Islands.

It is quite close to where I grew up and I learnt to climb there.

Oooh - very graphic, if you know what I mean.

One of the techniques Tony Hart once demonstrated that i managed to reproduce succesfully, despite being dreadfully clumsy artistically, was to create such a scene by alternating layers of cartridge paper torn roughly to shape with sheets of tracing paper, giving a similarly pleasing effect of hills off into the mist.

Good fun too.

Here's one taken slightly later...
