Title: ACME PBP 'Pubinar' 24th November 2018
Post by: Tomsk on 06 September, 2018, 07:53:01 pm
Audax Club Mid-Essex will be holding a 'PBP Pubinar' at The Compasses, Littley Green, Chelmsford, Essex CM3 1BU, on Saturday 24th November 2018. We have the 'Green Room', from 19:00. get there early if you want to eat and we'll start proceedings from about 20:00. B & B available at the pub, also camping afterwards in the beer garden is possible. Cheers for your hospitality Josser [Landlord and ACME stalwart].

Space is limited, so First-Time ACME PBP-ers will get priority, then non-ACME First-Timers, then those just here-for-the-beer [that's the rest of ACME, then ...]. I will attempt to impart the wisdom and experience gleaned from four editions: 2003 [the hot one], 2007 [the wet and windy one], 2011 [the one with unbelievably good conditions] and 2015 [the Proto-ACME Essex Peloton Plan that didn't quite work, but was fun {Type 2} anyway].

Believe me, the first one was a very STEEP learning curve ...

PM/email me if you'd like to go on the guest list.

Invitation going out with all the Fenland Friends brevets soon ... likewise encouragement to claim the Essex SR or plan for next year.

We welcome you [and your points  - you can change your allegiance via AUKweb]. We have club clothing to sell you - I have some, but Huggy is Kit Supremo.

Do you have any food allergies? ;D

Cryptic reference to the Initiation Ceremony, it's an Essex Thing. ;)

I have just remembered  ::-) that I videoed Nik's Nick and The Voice of Regan's Picked Egg Initiation Ceremony (https://youtu.be/ts5vkAsu9bk) yesterday evening.  Welcome to our merry band gentlemen, I hope you enjoy many miles and giggles with us  :-*

More precisely it’s a Mid-Essex Thing.

We have a fair number of newbies for the PBP Pubinar next week, but will be ok to squeeze the rest of the ACME crew in, whether you've done it before and are back for more or fall into the never again/not-even-the-once category!

Herman Ramsey is our guest [PBP 1979] and Brian Taylor [5 PBPs I think, over a wide time-span] possible as well.

Having the points is no problem- I just don’t know how to unlock my ACP Club.
No food allergies

Currently wallowing in PBP nostalgia and trying to slim down the hoard into a manageable pannier's worth to bring along. Each participant will get an A4 document with topics and running order plus some ride data on the reverse; they might like to bring a note book and pen as well. In my capacity as organiser, I will naturally have pens to lend/lose.

We [all 4 of the Tomsk-Tribe] will be there for a meal from about 6, Soupy and I will come by bike and stay for the duration of course.

As an occasional rider of ACME events from afar, I hope this goes well.

Its a great opportunity for PBP virgins to ask all those daft questions that arent really daft and for the anciennes to vastly overstate how difficult PBP is.

Have a good evening.

I’m going to be a bit pushed for time, but aiming to arrive before 8pm. If we’re likely to get underway earlier, I can drive across instead.

We probably won't start before 20:00, unless anyone is incorporating it into a DIY or some such madness and needs to get away early ...
