The evening news seems to have cottened on to the idea that any article with cyclists is an ad revenue generator.  They seem to throw in provocative statements all the time (both to drivers and cyclists) to get the click count up.   
Its a crap paper.

Are we being too sensitive here?  It seems to me that the mention of high vis might help jog memories of people (joggers?) who saw the cyclist and maybe his attackers. 

And at least they haven't invited comments!  You can just imagine the creatures emerging from the slimy depths to vent their spleen   :sick:only to slink off cursing as they are thwarted

We know he was wearing a helmet and so were his attackers, cos it would have been mentioned otherwise.

I don't think so. I think it was used as journalistic shorthand for "he was a decent fellow" [by being sensible and following The Rules]. The trouble is the corollary of that is to imply that not to wear hiviz is somehow being less than an upright citizen.

That's a fair point.  The article also describes what the attackers were wearing.

Maybe, but that would mean the EN is improving its standards of journalism, and I think that's unlikely.
