DIY 3 bird roasts

3/4/5 bird roasts are definitely the way to go for festive dining. Miles better eating than regular bird.
But good ones made using quality birds can cost a huge amount.
The solution is to DIY. It is actually really easy to bone out birds (internet videos show how) and you can select exactly the quality and welfare etc of the meat and stuffings etc involved. A butchers needle and string is useful for sewing it all back up though, and a meat thermometer is your friend when cooking.

Shouldn't this be in the NSFW board?  And have you been watching The Human Centipede again, Tigerrr?

I think Tigerr's evangelising for turducken is just the next step on from his enthusiasm for tunnel-boning chicken*.

It's only a matter of time before he will be posting about his voyage of discovery into creating a boneless version of the Bedouin wedding feast centrepiece of stuffed camel;D :demon: ;D

No mockery please. It is serious advice! A free range 3 bird can cost £125 and more (mind you a factory thing can be had for much less but will leave one with an empty soul). This is a great project for anyone who enjoyed airfix models or wanted to be a surgeon.
Plus turkey doesn't need to be involved, which is good as it is a tasteless thing.

There is, apparently, such a thing as a ten bird roast.  Presumably you start with an ostrich and finish with a hummingbird.

Did you actually make one for Christmas, Tigerrr?
I've had a commercial one once and was rather disappointed.

Yes, the eagle landed.
I made a 4 bird roast. French yellow chicken with a mallard, pheasant, partridge and toulouse sausage stuffing, with a duxelles layer under the chicken. Weighed in at 3.5k, and it was lovely - more gamey than a turkey but by including goose fat between layers very moist. Slow cooking too.
I boned a lot of chickens over the year as I find they BBQ well that way so I can do them fast, which cut down on the prep time. Anyone who enjoyed airfix models and watched Dexter will find this sort of thing a good way to spend time!
