Wilkyboy [Mr Camaudax] will be updating the gps stuff to mark the precise locations of the info controls. It's all on the routesheet, having checked it yesterday and today, as well as updated cafe ino and so on.

Link to the gps tracks are all on camaudax [via AUKweb] and one day will be on ACME.bike...

Booked on for the Hereward the Wake.  I'll be ECEing it to 400km as it seems the perfect distance from home for doing that.

Ay, for me also.  50.8km from my home to the start — it doesn't get much better than that

I also signed up for this, and I found these GPS files/routes from last year:
https://ridewithgps.com/events/22408-hereward-the-wake-300-audax-2016#routes/14967229/preview

Can they be used for 2017 as well? Any changes made to the route?

I've updated all this with new 2017 routes — the link still works but forwards nicely on to the 2017 page.  I've exported all the GPS files you might need to the page linked above on CamAudax.

FWIW, the route is the same, just changes to info-control locations — if you use the TCX then it will beep at you in the dark when you're close to and at the info controls, as they are easy to miss otherwise.

My ECE route is 52km , suppose I'd best get that submitted tomorrow. Once I've done a final check to ensure I haven't included any comedy off road.

Get lost, I`m too wimpy for that, I`m only riding the 100km + 100km ECE on Sunday. Mind you psyclist has persuaded me to ride the Around Weald Expedition on Saturday, he thinks it`s audacious ::-)

I`m looking forward to an extended Sunday lunch at the Littley Green Compasses.

That sounds nice.  We get an early breakfast call at Newport Pagnell motorway services instead   Followed by brunch courtesy of Tomsk

Thanks Wilkyboy. Lack of internet at home has led to a bit of sitting outside various Coffee shops to get myself sorted, being my 4th Hereward I would hope I know the route to a certain degree though.

I'm quite excited about this weekend. Having not done an Audax ride since my Perm in early June and having all the stresses and annoyances of a house move over the last few weeks I am looking forward to a full weekend of bike riding. And I'll be testing the tubeless 650B set up (hopefully the guards will turn up) to see how it goes.

Without wanting to deviate from the thread, I'm interested to know how you'll get on with tubeless. I suffered snakebites recently (both tyres in one hit) which I know isn't a problem for you, but I'd be worried if the seal went and I couldn't sort it out in the sticks.
Bikes are for riding, not cleaning!

Thanks Wilkyboy

Full 300km track used, filtered from original 12,000 track points to 1600, and good to go.

I've not had good experiences in the past but I figured I might as well try again with the larger volume tyres running at much lower pressures. I do still carry a couple of inner tubes so can sort out any issue but I have to say, the way the tyres cling onto the bead anything that unseats them could cause you bigger problems.

I've been running timeless for 2000km now without a problem. Still carry tubes in case. There is no way I would be able to reveal a tyre on the road.
2000km through the winter in the chilterns where flints are common.

Thank-you. I like the ridewithgps routes because I can also download them directly to my Garmin using the IQ app "routecourse". The beeps for the controls are great because I find them difficult to track when my own mileage can vary from the route sheet due to intended and unintended detours.

What on earth am I doing here on this beautiful day?! This is the only life I've got!!

Sadly we are missing all the fun but we did enjoy the 100km route check we did at the beginnng of the month (one day too early for a "helpers" ride). Both the 100km and 200km riders get to go to Tollesbury riverside which is one of my favourite Essex places. The cafe/tearoom down there is open until 2pm on Sundays I think, but it's quite small so probably not super fast if it is busy.

I'll be there for the curry (email sent). Anybody help me with parking? Tom's info sheet says that the church car park will be open at 20:00, so any advice on where to park before? I assume that I will park, eat curry, move car and ride in that order.

The curry house is at the top of Dunmow.  Churchend is down at the bottom.  It's normal, if you're driving, to drive to the curry house then relocate the car down to the church car park afterwards.

Unfortunately I'll be skipping the curry this time, as it would mean leaving work just a bit too early on a Friday, which is my busy day.
