My man wears a scarf in cold weather. I do not question his virility.
I have supplied a yacf Buff when he has needed an absent scarf.

How do epaulettes sit with you?
Are they a burden?
Just curious.

I'm certain that Isadora Duncan would agree with you.
As would Muammar Gaddafi.

Question: If I choose to wear a scarf, have I failed as a man?

Answer: Yes.

I thought they were for keeping your neck warm. Have I missed something?

No, you have not missed anything.

The need for a scarf might be reduced by luxuriant beard growth.

I often wear such a garment in the winter months to keep warm. Sometimes I'll even pull it up over my face to keep my nose warm....

Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

I'm not sure if Buffs count as scarves,  but I often wear a Buff and have, on more than one occasion, been accused of being a cycling pirate.

Wool scarves are nice and warm in winter; should you find yourself walking about town in suit and raincoat, on an inclement evening. On these occasions, not once did I see a reflection of myself in a window and think "Holy fuck - what are you wearing, Chris? Have you FAILED AS A MAN?"

I understand if you don't like scarves. That's fair enough - I'm not a fan of high heels. So what? Is it really worth a whole thread?

Oh fuck off, Chris! Are you seriously denying the fact that you tried your mother's high heels on when you were 12?  :P

Apparently, I don't know how to wear a scarf.

I thought you just wrapped the buggers around your neck and that was it.
But no, that's all wrong.
You have to double then up, and pass the central loop around your neck, and then shove the 2 loose ends through the loop.

When did that become a thing?

That's presumably how he decided that he didn't like them.

Epaulettes are frivels, an unnecessary accoutrement, and can thusly fuck off. Seriously, it's like someone had to button their own arms on.

Scarves are ok in winter. Less so in summer. Unless you aren't wearing any other clothes. Other than high heels.

About ten years ago, I think, when pashmina scarves for women became A Thing.

But I am no fashionista.

Once, when my train was delayed, I walked into a bar in Glasgow wearing a Black Watch scarf (appropriate for my clan) and was very lucky to get in with a group who approved of it. In fact they wouldn't let me buy my round. At closing time they walked with me to the station lest I meet with those who did not approve of my choice of scarf.  I probably missed several trains.

I've learned something new today. There are people who don't know that way of wearing a scarf.
