Opening Apple Pages doc in Windows
« on: 09 January, 2018, 06:28:19 pm »
How do I open a Pages document that someone has sent me from their Apple thing on a Windows laptop?
Thanks!

Get them to export it as a pdf and re-send it.

He's going to do that but I wondered if there was a way I could open it for next time (cos there will be a next time!).

You could try a recent version of LibreOffice, it has some support for opening Pages files.

Or use an online converter. eg https://cloudconvert.com/

Don't bother with pdf. Get them to save it as a .doc file. Pages has done that since pretty much when it came out. iPads, iPhones and computers can do it. Export is the menu option (or share in previous versions, I think)
It is simpler than it looks.

That worked. Formatting's a bit wonky, but content's all there, and that's all that's important in this case. Thanks.

It's exactly the same step, plus a pdf will open on just about anything.

However you can only read it. He said open.
