After watching the England - Italy game on Saturday and the Wales - Scotland match yesterday, I have to ask the question: can I get away with supporting Wales? My girlfriend's mother is Welsh, is that enough?
(My great grandmother was Irish so I may have a back up!)

I'm part Welsh and part English so can legitimately go for either (but mainly go for Wales as I like the way they play better).

But I don't see why people should feel that they have to support a particular side just because they come from that country. Patriotism does have its good points but it shouldn't be the be-all and end-all, especially when we are talking about something as unimportant (in the grand scheme of things) as sport. If I was you I'd support the one that you liked the most: whether that's based on how they play, their general attitude, the history of the side, or even the colour of their strips.

I'm half English and half Welsh but I have little real connection to Wales. I was born and grew up in England and since before then, none of my relatives lived in Wales. The only visits there were week long summer holidays to Harlech some years.

You can do as you see fit. The caveat being that you can only choose once, otherwise you end up being David Mellor

I'm half English too, but I never understood how any right-thinking person could bring themselves to support England at Rugby. I would concede, however, that England have produced some good players. David Duckham immediately spring to mind.

My dictionary (Oxford Concise) tells me that a Principality is "a state ruled by a prince".

That cannot by any stretch of the imagination mean Wales.

That's not the case in rugby in my experience. Whether right or wrong, for me the English rugby team encapsulates everything that makes everyone else dislike what England stands for. For most of my life, the team's been pretty crap.

My Dad has a debenture seat at the Millennium Stadium so am off to see the Wales v England match on Saturday, am so excited!!!

Anyone else going?

The last match I saw Wales play was against Australia back in November and there was a great atmosphere in there that day but I think this may outshine it. Especially if they shut the roof.
