Could try isoprpyl alcohol (aka rubbing alchol by the americans) available for the chemist.

Try it on an bit of the carpet to see if it damages it.

Scissors.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Carpets are usually help down by grippers, put a screwdriver (a clean one, not the one that you've just stirred the paint with) under a corner or edge, once you've got an edged up it should be fairly easy to remove the whole carpet. Then hide it behind the shed and deny any knowledge of having a carpet or rush down to carpets 'r' us and demand an emergency replacement.

A higher risk strategy would be to use some white spirit (assuming that's what you use to clean the brushes with) - test on a small portion first. Dab on the the stain and blot away with kitchen roll

Good luck!

Flowers and chocolates.

Won't help with getting the paint out of the carpet, but will help with appeasement and damage limitation...

Quickly, before it dries.

Door mat.
There's no vibrations, but wait.

I'd say ordinary hand cleaner should soften and loosen it. Then Fairies' Liquid with water to float it away. Beware that, if the carpet is old or light coloured, you'll likely have a noticeable clean patch afterwards.

Sandtex masonry paint is water-soluble while it's wet,  so I second what IanH says:

Move fast
Hand cleaner/washing up liquid
Lots of splashy water and (if you have one) a wet-run vacuum cleaner to remove the soggy excess
Enjoy the clean(er) patch

Unfortunately the paint dries faster than I move..

I will try just rubbing it out (along the lines of the scissors, and failing that, some white spirit.  Not convinced by th ewhite spirit as it could make  a bigger mess.

Scouring pad worked wonders. As it was relatively dry paint when it went on (off the bottom of my shoe) it wasn't too hard to dislodge.
