Up at Thruxton racetrack this evening, watching local club mates pounding around the track at sunset.

I particularly like this one in the setting sun

This is on a hill that probably doesn't seem like a hill in a 400bhp sports car

Some people say I'm self-obsessed but that's enough about them.

Out and about, no adjustment just cropping.

It is simpler than it looks.

A further test in the garden. Not sure what the wee brown ones oare apart form the female sparrow. I think there is a Dunnock and a young Song Thrush.

Yesterday's ride in the Vosges and the Alsace vineyards.

Haut Koenigsbourg. A ruin before the 1870 war, restored by the German high command as a present for the Kaiser, who had the motto "We didn't want this" inscribed over the fireplace in the main hall, but not until he had to get out of it after losing WW1.

I hoped (and somewhat dreaded) that the route was taking us up there but it didn't.

Above Riquewihr. About 8% climb here.

I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

The, frankly, rather splendid location of the Morvich Campsite we stayed at in the motorhome.

In the garden videoing worms. Lumbricus terrestris to be precise. Macro lens stopped down to 25 and a clean sandstone slab. Very hard to focus properly on a fast moving worm, but got several usable clips. It is to illustrate a project

Both uncropped. Rather impressed with the big lens.

It's May again.  They've hacked, and replanted, a local copse.

One of our buildings is being eaten - the old Biological Sciences building. I went and shot some video with the big lens and took the microphone as well to ensure better quality sound. Unedited.

I thought you were referring to the one trying to outsing the demolition, then remembered I had posted other pics upthread.

Is the "big lens" a Sigma?  I've been wondering about one of those...

Tamron 150-600. Very nice, if you have the biceps for it. (I use a monopod).

If the VR is as good as it is on their 70-300 you could probably use it hand-held.

You can, and it is quite good VR, but waiting and waiting with it in position is rather tiring. It is somewhat heavier than the 70-300
