Oily Jazz Interior
« on: 25 August, 2008, 10:01:55 pm »
Bother and tosh, after transporting our tandem and a bike, and Mrs eck of course, to Newtonmore and back this weekend, "someone" appears to have got oily marks on the upholstery and roof lining of our Honda Jazz.  :-X It's even worse than when Mrs Noodley tactfully commented on it a couple of weeks ago.  :-[

Something Must Be Done About It.
Only I don't know how best to clean it off. Any ideas from The Panel?
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Like "Stiff Little Fingers", that's a combination of words that sounds inherently NWS  - even if it isn't  ;)

Well, I had to call it something that would get your attention.  ;)

Dye the upholstery and roof lining of the car black, and then it won't show.

It should come off easily because the upholstery will have some sort of protective finish (if it's anything like cars I've had). I've used Windolene, meths, hand cleanser, IPA, in no particular order of merit.

Greene King, I hope. It isn't fit to drink.

It is alcohol, but even paler than Greene King.

I've used the citrus-based degreaser you get from car spares shops - makes the car smell nice as well.

Mrs Noodley is trying to make amends for her rather forthright blurting out, and suggest Swerfega and Vanish soap.  Not sure if it's for eck or for the car interior mind... ;) ;)

I'm happy for her to try both. Just on the car interior, mind.  :P

Whats the headliner made of?

The seat I'd clean with autoglym upholstery cleaner,  or I've found 1001 carpet cleaner good when you use a carpet cleaner on the seats.

:-\ It's a soft, felt-like material (pale grey  ::-)), not shiny plasticky stuff.

Ah cardbacked so won't take much fluid before being ruined.  Could try dry cleaning fluid from the supermarket but you could end up with a very clean spot where the grease was.
