No Mynydd Caerffili this year, but we had a good innings - 5 ascents in the last 3 years. The Tumble is a killer climb anyway, if a little desolate at the top.

So not only is it a Tour of England, but it's a Tour of England that tries as hard as it can to avoid going anywhere near anywhere I've ever lived in my life.  Oh well.

I'll be there!  I doubt it will have the crazy vibe of Caerffili but it's closer to my house!

No Stoke or Staffordshire stage this year...  :-[  I suppose we have been well treated over the last few years so hey ho, I'll just have to head off to Liverpool for the stage there and then off to a hillside in North Wales for that stage. I think they missed a trick by not ending Stage 2 at the top of the Great Orme.

I have the whole week off but can't see me travelling to see the southern stages: a few stages in Scotland would have been nice.

God, I am a moany old git! Sorry.  ;D

Might have to see if I can slip off early on the Friday and cycle out to a good spot near Pewsey.

I think it is paving the way for a Tour d'Ecosse following September 2014.

For those of us in the Bristol/South-Wales area, I think the British road race championships will give a better spectator opportunity, especially for those unable to get time off in the week (wifey not best pleased at finish in Bristol on a school day!).

No more than 5 miles from my house.

I'm glad they've finally recognised the significance of Flatus and myself in British English bike racing.

And starting about 5 minutes from my office.  http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/racing/british-racing/liverpool-criterium-open-2014-tour-britain-119343

The climb up to Upper Parliament St from the river is a bit of a slog.....

Finishing in Bristol on a Wednesday and starting in Bath two days later - an embarrassment of choice! But what will I be doing in September?

I'm looking forward to seeing what the Dragons have in store for their fancy dress theme this year. Can they top a truncheon-wielding Constable Tank chasing escaped convict Matt Rowe?  ;D

I'm only a few miles from the finish of Stage 6 in Hemel, will probably take the day off and find a good spot on one of the climbs through the Chilterns.

Camberley - Brighton goes right past our weekend retreat, but I'm not sure I want to fight through crowds 20 deep at the top of Ditchling Beacon.

The stage 6 route spends a lot of time within easy riding distance of Fuzzy Towers.

Leave embargo already in place for my mob ::-)

Good job I'm hoping to be working elsewhere.

I'm starting to think we need a semi-official Stage 6 YACF Corner...

Not risking an excursion into Scotland the week before our big vote, I see. That's a shame as it's always been a cracking day out, if sometimes a little wet...

I'll wave across the wall.

What chances to get on Chinnor Hill do you reckon?  Might just do the 10 min cycle to watch them go near here.

I drove a bit of the route from Stroud to Wotton-under-Edge yesterday. Surfaces to rival Paris Roubaix and a TL controlled single line working section that doesn't look likely to move any time soon on the climb through Horsley. Some tight corners on the steep descent into Wotton might catch out the unwary.

Thinking of taking the Met line to Chesham on the 12th to watch it pass through.

Surfaces to rival Paris Roubaix ............

Having ridden the PR route, the Stroud to Wooton-under-Edge road is silky smooth in comparison!

We'll be there to watch stage 7. Probably as it goes through our town. I did wonder whether we could get from there to Brighton for the finish, but I doubt it.
