The best kind!!

I have just obtained a quote from P&Q and they give us:

Out Tue 4th, Return Mon 10th, Standard Outside cabin (window). £384 between 4. With Evening all you can eat buffet, £536 between 4.

That must be some buffet at nearly 40 quid a head!
Keep on keeping on.

I took the Brussels-London Eurostar for LEL, worked perfectly.

Eurostar now only have 2 bike spaces per train. Have to be booked in advance £30 one way. Restrictions on luggage size means only little wheels packed down small can get in your carriage. There are a couple of paid for bagged bike spaces - these are I believe limited to 2 as well.

Actually, yes Aidan you are right. Plus, I don't know what food is available near the ferry port. I imagine Zeebrugge is very commercial, docks warehousing etc. Not many bars or restaurants nearby to grab a bite to eat prior to departing?

Just a thought, please don't let me sway you either way. I'll be booking a buffet most likely. We used the Rotterdam/Hull ferry last summer and the buffet was useful for feeding up. We drove on that occasion.

We stocked up in the LIDL beside the ferry port in Hull, can't remember what we did on the way back.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with the evening buffet.

Top touring tip - go for the buffet breakfast and fill your panniers with yoghurts, sarnies, fruit, croissants etc. Take a carrier bag.

There might have been some Leffe involved. Probably why you can't remember.

Due to a drop out we have a space for one rider from Hull to Zeebrugge. Going out on Tuesday 4th Sept and returning Monday 10th Sept.

If you wish to join us, I am proposing to book a 4 berth cabin for 4 men (ladies can join us at your own discretion) and the cost is £384 divided by 4.

Making your own way to and from the ferry ports. We are getting the train to York and then riding to Hull, and riding from Zeebrugge to the start point.

I had the same problem. On the home page of

click top right for menu. Then the registration option has another little drop down arrow next to it for entry page.

We 3 are still looking for one more rider who has entered, to join us in a 4 bed cabin (outer) on the ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge. The cost at the moment is £384 so £96 each. This is for the return journey. Food is extra an £20 each way if you go for the all you can eat buffet on board, at the time of booking.

We are making our own way to and from the ferry, taking only bikes on board. The ride on the Belgian side is not far to the start.

Going out Tuesday 4th Sept, arriving on 5th Sept giving us a full day to get to the start. We'll book accommodation at the start/finish later. Then we plan to ride back on Monday 10th Sept for the evening sailing back to Hull to arrive back on Tuesday morning.

Once we have a 4th rider I'll be booking the sailing and will want the fare soonest after the tickets are booked.

Cheers, Dave C

I'm considering this ride. Anyone know how to get to the start from Brussels? Is it train to Ghent then ride? Or is there a more local station?

Geographically google maps suggests that Beervelde and Lokeren stations are the nearest to the start, but Gent is likely to have a more frequent and reliable service.

I usually take the train to Gent St. Pieters when I start in Wachtebeke.

Sort of thing that seems like a good idea at the start but less appealing after 1000km on the return journey.

23km and a free 40minute train ride over 70km seems like a plan.

Last call for another rider who wants to take the ferry to Zeebrugge. We are 3 cyclists and need one more to make the 4 berth outside (with window) cabin worthwhile.

Someone must have booked on and be considering how to get there. Train to Hull, ride on, ride off, and cycle to and from the start. Same in reverse.

With 4 it is only £96 pp on the overnight ferry. That is £46 each way, including accommodation on the ferry.

The train station of LOKEREN is only 10K from the start location.

Hi riders,

We are 3 riders going to Zeebrugge from Hull on the ferry. We need 4 ideally as we are looking to book a 4 berth window cabin. The cost per rider then would be £98 each rider return. If you are riding and undecided about how to get there, we are travelling out Tuesday 4th and returning Monday 10th. This will give us plenty of time to relax getting there and back after the long ride.

If you would like to join us, please get in touch either by PM, or email davidstephencrampton at googlemail dot com

I'll give it a week and then we'll book with out anyone else.
Many thanks.

I'm planning on riding this. Dave, sorry missed your ferry booking but might see you on the ferry anyway if we're on the same one :)
Taking the car on the ferry going 4/9 and coming back 10/9 (and staying in ghent 9/9). If anyone else wants a lift I have one more space on the bike rack.

I've entered it and paid and am just waiting to hear back from the organiser.

Am I right in thinking the time is 75 hours, so you would finish by early evening sunday?
