Marry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of the group, I hope to get out with you more in 2013, as my MEMWNS outings were very limited in '12

Thanks to festive generosity (from Ellie the 12 year old) I am now the proud owner of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. My calculations reveal I have already cycled to 31% of the pubs listed.  Hands up who wants to cycle to 84 Essex pubs mentioned in the guide that I haven't visited?

Note:  I am not suggesting we do all 84 pubs in one go.

I might probably almost be up for some of them some of the time!

I'm doing Dryathlon, so will be avoiding pubs in January, although I did think that an alternative could be that unlicensed curry house in Hatty P that we went to a few months ago, I thought the food was top hole.

I'm in if we visit them in ascending order of altitude.

I'l be up for that. I'm also doing the Dryathlon but going for a bit longer. Need to lose some weight after my marathon Christmas crisp and chocolate eating competition. (I was the only contestant, therefore the winner!!)

That'll be it. I'm planning on going for a bit longer than January. Probably till easter. Not that hard for me as we don't generally drink at home. Just need to stay away from the Mid Essex Mid Week lot for the forseeable future!

I won't be doing a dry January but I have agreed to accompany The Current Mrs R to Slimming World once a week in an attempt to get down to twelve and a half stone and stay there. I need to loose over a stone to hit my target and suffice to say less booze needs to be consumed.

Ouch! Sounds serious. Is this after the 5kg ham has been consumed?

I'm just trying not to eat between meals and when at work I'm only allowed to eat what I bring with me. It's now 10.57am on day one. So far so good!

The 5kg ham proved to be a mistake and we only needed half the amount. We have 3kg in the freezer!

*** FORWARD PLANNING ALERT *** *** FORWARD PLANNING ALERT *** *** FORWARD PLANNING ALERT *** *** FORWARD PLANNING ALERT ***

This coming Wednesday evening will hopefully see me making my first attempt to ride home from London.  The Old Git has kindly offered to accompany me from the outskirts of London to Writtle where Huggy will kindly take over.  At the moment I will be alone on the London leg  :o

Is there any chance this coming week's MEMWNS ride could choose The Wheatsheaf in Writtle as it's destination?  I shall not be staying long but it would be nice to say "hello" and sup a pint with you all.

Forward planning again

wednesday 20/2/13 will be the anniversary of your "1st ride home" will there be a re-run?? If so i am up for the Chadwell Heath to Writtle section again
