How about the Wheatsheaf. I haven't been there for ages and it offers a train assist for the eastern contingent?

Writtle? I think it has had another change of owners, not sure what it's like at the moment?

There's a few others nearby in Writtle if we need an alternative venue ... But the Chelmo Wheatsheaf is good too.

Not a lot of bike parking opportunity at Chelmsford one plus in city centre, I'd be ok on Brommy though

ETA: if it's dry tomorrow I might check both out on the brommy.

Or perhaps The Walnut Tree or Rose & Crown?

Walnut tree might be a goer, r&c a bit foodie? Though suppose we could aim for a romantic meal !?! :)

I could do food for a change, if the Rose and Crown is selected from the few options being discussed. Give you company until the drinkers arrive.

If they're the pubs in Gt Waltham and Broads Green, then I'm good with either!

Ok, out of Chelmo then:

The Walnut Tree is an odd sort of place ...  :-\

We've been to the Rose and Crown in Great Waltham sometime last winter, but nothing wrong with it. Though it did get a bit quiet once all the diners went home.

The one in little Waltham hasn't been visited since I've been riding MEMWNS and I think it will offer better bike parking, but suspect it might be damp.

Can we make a decision so I can work out what I'm doing for tea

Actually, R&C looks better for bike parking now, looks like they've sacrificed some of the car park for outdoor seating.

I'm amazed how expensive the menus are now!

Metoffice is showing rains to stop by 7pm here, so dampness may just be on the ground.

Shall we say Rose & Crown then?

I won't be out this evening I'm afraid.  Very late night last night as I have a poorly wife  :'(  She'll be OK but we both need an early night and some decent kip.  Have fun folks.

BTW - I was thinking of going for a spin on Sunday.  No plans yet but if anyone fancies accompanying me we can hatch a plan.

Sorry, I am also out after a very late night following an evening of drinking. Already way over quota on beer for during the week and I need to catch up on some sleep. Enjoy. Hope all okay with your wife, OD.

Given the fall out rate of people, are we happy to revert to a venue of known quantity; OT, 'Dev, Spiritual Home ?

I fear a high probability of colonial interference this afternoon/evening  :(

In other news, if anyone is interested in riding the Green & Yellow Fields 300k as a route check we can start a conversation about it.

Sorry, I am busy over half term so won't be able to help out.

What on earth am I doing here on this beautiful day?! This is the only life I've got!!
