Tubeless Sealant

I have one set of wheels that use Stans sealant and another set that I recently set up with Orange sealant.

I have run out of Stans and will need to top up the sealant in the next month or so.

Can I just use the Orange or do I have to empty out all of the Stans sealant first.

I think you need to check the formula of each; my LBS advised me clean the old sealant out when I switched from Stans to Bontrager. Apparently some of them react with each other.

Sealant supposedly only works for about 6 months, though the stuff I put in one of my MTB tyres about 3 years ago is still holding it up well enough despite the obvious leaks all over it and the large ball I can hear rolling around. Prior to the top up 3 years ago I was just constantly dropping another syringe full in through the valve.

When you top up with sealant, how do you know how much to top up with? I haven't actually touched my wheels since I got them in February. I'm wondering if it's best to just clean them out and start over.

I just top up with 30-50ml roughly every 6 months until the tyre has to come off.

For reference Stans and Schwalbe sealants are one and the same product.
