It's a no from me  :'(.  My mother has a significant birthday that weekend and my presence is required.

(Also struggling to do the 23/12 - may I join you for the start though and see how far I get?)

Yep, and hoping to do my first ECE to take it to 200 if the weather is favourable.

I'm entering this one.  First audax of the year, first audax for 5 months.  I have done this ride before, back in 2008, before I started blogging.  Which reminds me that I must buy a camera soon.

Of course!  My local audax and a great way to start the year...

Will we see a repeat of last year's perfect cycling conditions?!

If I'm confident my Bronchitis has cleared up then I may ride to the start for tea, cake and handshakes before riding home (I think the route takes me close to Andover unless it's changed)

I'm in, intending to round it up to about a 200k from home (but not officially ECEing it).

Well after the washout on Saturday and more today, how lucky were we to get that fantastic weather yesterday?  8)

It was a lovely day, and great to see so many familiar faces (and to meet some new ones - finished off the ride with ElCampesino who I'd not met before, and who kindly waited for me as I hauled myself up the hills).

There was a little ice on the lanes, and my bike computer was registering -1 by the time I got home.

Only 198.3 km for me.

A super day out

ECE'd it to 200k which was made harder due to the cold. It was warmer when I started at 6.45am than when I finished the 'organised' part at 3.45pm. Warm soup at the Carpenters Arms was required before ascending Watership Down.

Garmin battery died 2k from home, so had to visit Tesco for completion time brevidence. Time for a replacement Garmin battery I think.

Definitely chilly - though not as chilly as previous editions, by many accounts. My garmin upload shows an "average of 0.6 degrees C" - on or below freezing until Kintbury.

Rode for a bit with a chap on the noisiest bike - an old Dawes(?) with rattling mudguards. Sorry, didn't get and/or remember your name - but thanks for the company! We got held up just before the Hatchet Inn by a flock of sheep (accompanied, luckily - not out on their own), which ate into the coffee and biscuit time. Then headed out alone, as he'd set off. Something I'd said?

A great day's ride with beatiful views - those climbs were worth every bit of effort. Thanks to all those involved in organising it.

A great ride back into audaxing.

I know I was 'just in time', but I did think also that I had the wrong day for a moment. My first impression as I entered HQ was the 'THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT PORTSMOUTH PUB RIDES' crew!

Many thanks to the organisers for a brilliant day out.

Good photos Els.

All my good intentions to meet you at the start were spoilt when I looked at my alarm clock and it read "10:05am".

I recognise nearly all the roads in your photos...especially the one just before Watership Down hill kicks in (that's quite a kick on the first bend).  The fact that it's a double climb, with only 30 seconds respite, must give many a nasty surprise.

Next year maybe.
