Anyone else refuse to use an i-thing?
« on: 27 December, 2008, 02:50:38 pm »
I've just ordered a new phone; a Samsung pixon (cheaper than buying a camera and saves carrying around 2 things). I didn't even bother to look at the i-phone as I don't buy anything at all with an 'i-' prefix. I don't crave i-players or ever feel the urge to use i-player.

Does anyone else do this, or am I just odd?

My oldest has an ipod; itunes and the whole Apple thang is an enigmatic  PITA to use  IMO; so I have a Philips Go Gear which is a better sound for half the price and plays anything, mp3's WMA's (except surprise surprise itunes  >:( even those tracks I've paid my own money to download)

i-free person as well

Paying a premium for a white case, non compatibility and trendy merchandising isnt my idea of fun.

I won an i-pod in a works competition.

Then I worked out how much it would cost to fill it up @ i-tunes.

Then I sold it.

[Edit]

Actually, I've just paid a premium so that those with MacBooks can give presentations on my projector. I am not amused.

I disagree. I use public transport without an iThing, so does my partner. My partner is a Mac user though.

Several iPods + iPhone here.

Th non-compatability issue is a red herring - the only stuff that you can't play on other players is stuff bought from the iTunes store and not all of that now - you can also buy as a drm free mp3). iPods will play mp3s ripped from your collection just as well.

I use them because they're reliable and easy to use and, in my opinion good value. They also have an 'image' and are marketed heavily but then what isn't?

I've got an ipod Nano and it's great.

I use it mainly for free, automatic, podcast downloads from itunes but it's no hassle to fill it up with my MP3s from my PC either. I've never bought anything from itunes.

I mainly use my Sony Ericsson phone for listening to music though as I always have it with me and I can use it via a cassette/headphone adaptor in the car.

I prefer Creative MP3 players and my phone belongs to  my workplace, so it's a cheap Nokia

i-agree.

I refuse to use any Campag stuff for the same reason. All style over substance and used by a smug bunch of smarties who think they are better. Tossers, the lot of 'em.

I love my Shuffle.  Son1 now has an Ipod Classic and it is ace.  It is well designed kit.  I appreciate that.

I have a Sony Ericsson K810i.  Does that count?

~I don't need i-things.  I do use the BBC iplayer though.

I use my Sony Ericsson for music (it stores absolutely loads now I've bought a card for it) and for BBC pod casts.  Which reminds me, I still haven't listened to last week's "In Our Time".

I plumped for the wrong sort of technology.  I got a Sony "Network Walkman", which works adequately to store my entire CD collection on its 20Gig Hard Disk.

Sony did a free "product recall" which I missed.  When my Walkman misbehaved, I sent it back, and had to part with 75 notes to get it fixed.

But Chapeau to Sony for still fixing these things, except that they've stopped supporting their on-line music store "Connect".  So I still buy CDs, then copy them aboard the Walkman.

I don't think you will get an i-phone that has MMS included as its possible to e-mail pictures with an i-phone.

I was given a Shuffle for Christmas 2007.  The only thing going for it is size.   For the same money I could have been bought a 4gb basic mp3 player but had a 1gb shi-pod instead.

I don't buy Apple stuff because there is a price premium, or should I call that daylight robbery.   There is not 3 times as much functionality to justify 3 times the price in my view.

Style is for gullible suckers.   :demon:
