Yes, not bad in the end.  Peter Capaldi is good.  The 'distracting' Mde.Vastra/Jenny & Strax should disappear down into the void between parallel universes, IMO (and the mini-aos).  Half face man sounded like Arby from Utopia.

There were some good bits but I liked Peter Capaldi as the Doctor much more than I liked the episode as a whole.

Oh dear. What _have_ they done to the theme tune?  Where's the ethereality?  Where's the otherness?  Where's the _menace_?  Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. It really won't do at all.

Peter did a good job, not sure if I have warmed to him yet, expections were a bit high. The story and the episode was a bit meh, not sure about the efx they put on. Graphically the intro was great, but as TheLurker said where is the menace etc.

That was underwhelming. And I really struggled to hear a lot of the dialogue against the music, as ever. I didn't care for the general ageist jokes, either.

I haven't watched Doctor Who for ages but was trapped into it.  There were some funny lines, Peter Capaldi is good (he always is) but we all ended up with headaches.  The production was just trying too hard.  It also struck me as a bit creepy that all the male characters were either late middle aged or older, bonkers or both and all the females were nubile.  This strike anyone else or have I got a problem?  I may be misremembering....

I think we lost the battle against the constant music long ago :-(

what I noticed more this week was the frequent wavering of both female stars' accents!

So, what were the cyborgs?  Cybermen reduced to scavanging human parts / bodged with Victorian era mechanics?  ???

Those icky cyborgs featured in an earlier episode. Was it The Girl in the Fireplace?

What, I wonder, was the 'I store oxygen in my lungs' moment/directorial insert, between Vastra & Jenny about...

I thought they were from that, plus the Doctor was talking about a ship called the Madame Pompadour. I think timey-wimey is all wibbly-wobbly again.

I liked Peter Capaldi as the Doctor very much, but the plot was self-consciously confusing; like Moffat was laughing at his audience for caring. Vastra seemed to be merely a vehicle for mild titillation - but, ok, I liked her! I've always liked Strax as a bit of knockabout fun. Yes, it's silly but who said this was a serious drama? So 5/10. Daleks? Bring 'em on. I love them!

Well I felt I had to watch it, just to give it a chance.

On the whole my favourite bit was the Lizard/Lesbian theme.

I never knew Dr Who had moved on to this sort of stuff.  Now I can see why adults watch it.

I can't wait for next week.

I liked it. Hated the intro.

Yes.  He amputated Oscar Pistorius's legs apparently.

I remember a Tom Baker story where the Doctor and Leela were miniaturised and sent into someone's body, possibly the Doctor's own body, to find a medical problem. My clearest memory of it was them being attacked by giant balls of polystyrene, which were meant to be white blood cells.

I still like Peter Capaldi more than I like the storylines.

While mildly entertaining, I wouldn't say it was a Fantastic Voyage

I thought ep1 was mostly great, and I like Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, but ep2 was pretty dull on the whole. Some good lines though.
