Was he the one that played the doctor on the millenium pile of pants episode? If so then 'twas him, I always get them mixed up...

That'll be the one then, if you can, get hold of the BBC7 ones, they are pretty good, much better than the TV ones.

Oooo and a new series has just started recording, to be aired March 2009!

There was what looked like an outside broadcast unit setting up across from work as I cycled in this morning... As DrW and TW are both filmed round here, perhaps I should take my autograph album* with me when I cycle home.  ;D

Giant steam-powered cyberking vs. montgolfier balloon?  Bring it on! ;D ;D ;D
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

But... but... since when were balloons filled with town gas - the other Doctor said he had a deal with the local gasworks ?

All Miss Hartigan had to do was strike a light, and its goodnight Doctor.

Also, is town gas lighter than air?

Typical composition was:

    * hydrogen 50%
    * methane 35%
    * carbon monoxide 10%
    * ethylene 5%

So yep, lighter.  Such balloons were used.

I queried this, and was told that it could be a gas-powered hot air balloon - he never explicitly states that he fills it with the gas.  :-\

It was OK, and nice steampunkishness, but the cybermen are fairly boring foes, and I got the impression that the ideas exceeded the budget.

Also, who phones up in the middle of Doctor Who to announce that someone is now a great-grandfather? I mean, honestly!  ::-) ;)

Grrr! The sound on the iPlayer download (we were mid-xmas-meal when it aired) cuts out at 32 minutes. Trying to download again to avoid baaaad things happening to my TV.

worked a treat for us last night on my new-fangled wireless broadband  laptop/hi-fi/tv spaghetti arrangement.

A treat indeed.

I've also been reading the 'Time Traveller's Almanac - the Ultimate Intergalactic Fact Finder' from BBC books.  £14.99 cover price. £4.00 bought in November from the book club guy that sells through the school.  Fabulous, altough I need to ensure that the little ones don't look at the pictures as they fall to sleep...

Oh no, I don't want either of those.

I want Christopher Eccleston back, but I doubt that'll happen.  :'( I don't know who I want.

Name-Drop alert...

I had breakfast in a cafe in the centre of Derby last Monday.  At the next table, talking to other cast members of reduced stature, was Sylvester McCoy, currently in panto at the Assembly Rooms.

My brommie under the table was a conversation piece; he'd been asked to leave some establishment (I didn't hear where) as it was claimed that his folder was a fire risk.  ???

Sylvester McCoy is a genius - his 'Accidental death...' was fantastic (as was his work for Vision On).  He may have been among the not-so-good Doctors, but I rather think that was more to do with the writing & direction than anything else.

Tom Baker should be crowned King of the Time Lords...

Sylvester McCoy was the father of alternative comedy, so it's said.
