I thought it was really boring. Even my nephews who would normally be glued to the screen got bored halfway through and took to prodding the cat. Being attacked by an irate feline was far more entertaining for them.....
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

Top Christmas Day post-port schmalz :)

And a nice reaffirmation of the true nature of Christmas: halfway out of the dark.

Well I cried when the reason that Kazran kept Abigail in cold storage was revealed.

Because I'm a great big wuss.

I didn't think it was that good to be honest - other Christmas specials have been better.

I wasn't overly impressed either. It just seemed lacking in originality; "A Christmas Carol" has been done to death, and it all seemed too strained.

Even Ms Pond in her Police uniform didn't give it much interest.

Yes.

But overall it was pretty enjoyable. Creaked a bit in the 3rd quarter, but plenty of neat silliness to maintain interest.
MUCH better than most Russellty Davies episodes.

One thing confused me - maybe I was a bit pissed...

The family of sister of the cold girl; that Christmas in their house the son was the same age as he was when they all first met, when everyone else was considerably older and one person was played by a different actor completely.

I watched this after Chrimbo dinner at the parents place. It's the first episode I've seen since David Tennant left. If it wasn't for Katherine Jenkins I would have switched off. I am well aware this may have been previously said, but I'll say it anyway: The new Doctor is shite, he's practically a teenager! Whose idea was it to turn Doctor Who into Doctor Who Kids?

Indeed but I gave up trying to work up any enthusiasm for this damp squib. It was bloody awful.

It's just been on here and my stepdaughter (23) pronounced it the best ever.  I'm not so sure about that but did spend time on here and managed to multi-task successfully without feeling the need to focus solely on the show.

We missed the first couple of minutes though, did it explain what the sharks were all about (or were they just part of the local scene)? (The harness gave me a good laugh too)

I really enjoyed it too.

It's designed, I suppose, to work in that post-feast miasma of goodwill-to-all-men and it did, in spades, with tearjerkers aplenty and a rollercoaster ride to the final destination.  Viewing it on a cold, cynical January morning, it would be pretty sickly, I'd guess.  But yesterday ? Ace.

I liked the whole "cyberpunk" feel of the planet - Victorian style clothes, control board with switches and levers, and people wearing darkened flying goggles.

I think you mean "steampunk" (I didn't see any cybernetics!). But whatever, it was a good choice for a christmas  sci-fi show

I only half watched and half listened to it because I was busy roasting and steaming things at the time. I'll have to sit down and give it my full attention to see.

41 pages have been added to this thread since my last visit. However, a conversation this afternoon with Mrs. Wow's sister revealed that a niece on her husband's side had, at the age of 18, never heard of Dr. Who or the Daleks.

This is an achievement of which any one of us would be rightly proud.

That's just wrong. A childhood deprived of watching the telly from behind the sofa from between your fingers.
