I bought the DVD box set of series 5 as a Christmas present. Actually 2 copies - one for me to keep for myself.
I was watching "The Hungry Earth" - the episode where there's a drilling rig in Wales somewhere, with Meera Syal managing the project.

Just propped against the wall is an Itera plastic bike.

Anyone else notice that? (Sorry if it's already been mentioned; I did a search for "Itera", and all I got was lITERAly lots of lITERAture-related posts!)

I was just watching the Christmas Carol episode on iPlayer, and I don't think I've seen the "Coming Soon" bit at the end of that episode before.

It looks quite promising for the new series, more River Song obviously, but what looks like period drama again (it worked pretty well with The Girl in the Fireplace), Nazis, what could be Kennedy era US special agents (a who killed President Kennedy storyline, or would that be too cliched?), the Ood, mention of a Stetson and a fez, and what looked like the interior of the spacecraft from The Lodger.

(It's at around the 1 hour 40 seconds point).

... and the new series starts next Saturday, which I hadn't realised until I hunted around a bit. Yay!

Good episode. One of those that left lots of interesting plotlines to speculate over, both in relation to the next episode and the series.

Fine new monsters as well. That's where Stephen Moffat kicks ass. He brings the fear.

The 5 of us just watched it on I-player and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!! time paradox makes my head hurt at the best of times and I've read a lot of scifi. Spooky, scary, confusing and funny, that's about as good as it gets.

Even scarier I'm now in the position of yet again changing my favourite Doctor...David Tennant finally beat out Tom Baker but Matt Smith is superb.

It's like being a kid again, got to wait a whole week for the next episode

It was so good, I might watch it again on iPlayer, maybe around Wednesday or Thursday...

There's a theory that Stephen Moffat is leaving the kids behind. I will consult with my uberfan 8-year old niece tomorrow to see what she thinks.
