If we consider the Silents to be a parasite, then many parasitic relationships do have a partially symbiotic nature.

I wonder if the fall of the Silents has a negative effect somewhere... something they should have triggered and that won't happen now?

You can get them in a can, now though!   ;D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-fUeCNgIaw

I just watched it, and it certainly had some good points, like the clever resolution of the Silents invasion by

... but there were an awful lot of loose ends, which may or may not be tidied up at some point.

It also left me feeling rather unfulfilled, because so many things were left unexplained.

I'd just like a nice self contained episode, which doesn't have lots of obvious links to other episodes, like the aforementioned Blink, or even The Lodger, which it turns out is linked to this episode, but which does stand alone anyway.
Actually, it is rocket science.

Avast!  Didn't see much of this episode, but am watching with *interest* the blue-screen filming on Dr Who Confidential with the rather fetching Lily Cole.  In green make-up and a sheer dress and not much more.

I liked the random tank of mower petrol/2-stoke oil dangling out of the control panel of the Tardis :)

Mmm - one or two things seemed odd.

Wasn't Rory still a 2,000 year plastic Roman centurion?  In which case how could he drown?

Best Doctor Who line in a long time - "there's worse ways [to die] than having your face snogged off by a dodgy mermaid."

And how could he get Amelia pregnant?

I wasn't too keen on that episode. A bit pedestrian compared to the first two.

And I fear that Amy might be dreaming it all, which would be rather dull.

Snogged off? Did he really say that?

I didn't think much of that episode to be honest, far too melodramatic. You just knew Rory would cough and splutter back to life after they'd milked it for a while. I sussed this out soon enough and just sat back and enjoyed it as a bit of fluff. Getting the old captain and crew to "sail" the alien ship was a nice touch though.

I'm trying to work out the "Woman in the wall"

When they are in the Powder Store, and the woman slides open a non existent hatch, says "You're doing fine, stay calm" and then closes the hatch which disappears again!

Yes, the spooky woman in the wall with the silver eyepatch appeared in the hatch of the door of the attic room which had the framed photo of Amy with a baby.

No, because the Universe was recreated when the Doctor used the power of the exploding Tardis to power it's regeneration.  The Amy and Rory produced from that eventually remembered the Doctor, but the plastic Rory in effect was left in that disappeared Universe.

I thought that was an OK episode, although the concept of a medical system going over the top has been done before, in the "Are you my Mummy?" episode (whatever that was called).
Actually, it is rocket science.

That's clearly a series-long slow-burner.

I wouldn't say that was a good episode last night.  Started off as a good  fun Dr Who Adventure on a Pirate Ship.

But did it really have to end up with alien space ship trapped in space time plot whole?  It seems to me that having an alien space ship trapped in a space time plot hole makes for an easy episode script as everything can be explained in the last 10 minutes due to an alien ship trapped in a space time plot hole.....   :-\

It will turn out to be related to Amy's pregnancy no doubt, hence the "You're doing fine" line.
