Diablo III

It's been a long time coming, but the franchise will be back in a few weeks.

Just played through the first few levels via the open beta weekend.  I started with fairly low expectations, not helped by the extreme flakiness of the installer, but the game itself is pretty fun.  I don't know if it'll have the longevity of D2, but I'm looking forward to playing through the campaign.

I've been playing the Hell Unleashed mod of Diablo II for many years now on a private server.

From what I've heard from others who have been playing the beta version of D III , game balance is an issue. Also the game difficulty is much too easy compared to the Hell Unleashed mod.

I can well believe that.

As someone who has fond memories of playing through single-player Normal a few times, but didn't go all that far further, I was surprised how well D3 seems to recapture the experience, while rather streamlining the skill system.
