I was sad to hear on Radio 4's The Last Word that Chinua Achebe has dies, aged 82.
He was a magnificent writer and critic, and Our Kid's favourite author. In fact, Our Kid has this week been writing one of his last essays of his degree, on Heart of Darkness, and used Achebe's critique as the basis for it.
