Rob Delaney. He is indeed very funny. Worth following on Twitter - completely mental, in a brilliantly funny way. Haven't seen Catastrophe yet but have heard good things.

Horizon: Can We Make A Star On Earth?  BBC4 delves into the vaults again with this 2009 offering.  Floppy-haired cleverness dispenser Brian Cox on nuclear fusion.  Ignore the "Brian Cox on a mountain-top" footage - it's part of his contract.  Ignore also the fact that his Mustang changes from a coupé without a front number plate to a convertible with one, and back again, on a shot-by-shot basis as he ponces around southern California.  Probably needed a bit more SCIENCE and a bit less poncing around but much better than for e.g. HorridCockneys or "Celebrity" Big Brother.

The first episode of the BBC's adaptation of Wolf Hall on iPlayer as I missed it earlier this week. It was very good.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

After an ingominious DNF with the book,  can't bellieve I'm saying this:

Wolf Hall - very very good. Cromwell was just amazing.

(It was all a bit like the better-done Shakespeare - I often got lost in the plot/political detail,  but was in no doubt of the sentiment of each scene and confrontation. And the reviewers say it gets a bit less opaque next week :)

Of course if you know the relevant history,  you won't struggle at all!)

BBC4, 22:00 - doco about Kraftwerk.  Could be interesting, if not chock full of laughs.

I must record ' Sound of Song' at 9pm on BBC 4, last week on the impact of tape on music was excellent.

I recorded this, but can't play it for technical reasons (mention in the Grumble thread).  Did I miss much?

I'm not enough of a fan to have their records, but I enjoy'm on the radio and like music documentaries in general.  I could iPlayer it.

They all seem a little non-plussed about their popularity.

They're not exciting to watch but delightfully precise in that undefinable Germanic way. Massively influential, lets face it, having Grand Master Flash as a fan and being credited with the invention of hip hop can't be all bad, can it?

And they all ride bicycles. (One of the very few bands I could think of who have written songs about cycling, Mungo Jerry notwithstanding.)

Watch it on i-Player. Have a beer and chill. Definitely a cut above C4 & 5 with their 'List 10/20/50/100 things and get a load of overpaid wankers to spout off the stuff we already know about' progs.

Missed this when broadcast in real time; Hurrah! for get_iPlayer.  Quite fascinating and confirmed my suspicion that Auto-Tune is the jbex of Stan and needs to be deleted from the universe.

Now watching the Kraftwerk wossname.  Paul Morley is, in his own way, just as much of a ponce as ponce-for-hire Stephen Bayley.

Can't think why anyone would pay to see them live though ???

For the amazing 3d graphics and to hear the music at volumes you just don't get at home I suspect.
Excellent documentary, I had missed the Computer Love/Talk ((Coldplay) connection but once it's pointed out it's ridiculously obvious. It seems on that Coldplay gave Ralf Hutter a writing credit for it and asked him before they used it. Apparently he wrote back saying 'Yes, you can use it, and thank you very much for asking my permission, unlike that bastard Jay-Z'."
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Don't know much about history 1
But I am gripped by the slowly building tension and political intrigue, also sooo want Cromwells hat, do they do a Merino version?

O noes!  I'm in love with Audrey Fleurot all over again.
Someone give her a hairbrush!

She seems to have found it, presumably while clearing out Pierre's flat before his parents showed up.  I note that Grégory Fitoussi is still listed in the opening credits

.  It's all shaping up nicely for the dénouement and I'm away next weekend and won't be able to watch it until late Monday chiz.

Also, Caroline Proust is a cyclist

Wolf Hall is just blowing me away. No unnecessary soundtrack, no dumbing down. Fantastic sets and lighting with sparse dialogue. There is a lot of silence in it. Everything is conveyed with a look, a touch or a short pithy bit of dialogue.
The book is brilliant as well, I,m just starting on it at the moment.

As an aside I also watched the documentary on Tyndale's bible. Melvin Bragg claimed Tyndale's is forgotten today and that almost no one knows who he was, really ? I would think anyone with a passing interest in either Tudor or religious history would know who Tyndale was.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

just caught up with this week's Ep - agree with all the above.

Except the tyndale business - never heard of him! (although I do know who Jane Seymour was :P )

its good fun playing "what have we seen _him_ in before???"
I'm embarased to say i may never have seen Mark Rylance before. And I'm kicking myself for not remembering Claire Foy was in the Promise. (this is a lot easier with imdb, isnt it?)

Yebbut, there's no way she's going to give birth to that baby, is there?

I'm sure there's a joke to be had about Audrey and briefs, but maybe that's best left dangling.

Dr Larrington and I were speculating about this last night and concluded that a life of domestic bliss with Gilou was just what the scriptwriter ordered for the already-commissioned series 6.  If Gilou doesn't get killed utterly to DETH by an angry husband first.

Well, there's scope for a troublesome menage a trois with TinTin. Maybe Josephine could join in for a very French scenario.
