Is this worth £100?

This came up for sale locally, was interested for one of my lads. I offered £60 for it but won't accept less than £100 - think he's taking the piss. Anyone else agree?

Un-badged steel frame (gas pipe - weighs a ton), vertical drop out (useless for fixed), Rigida Nova on Quando hubs (7spd freewheel not cassette with rustless spokes, rear wheel buckled), steel rear mech, Huret steel front mech, Sakae chainset with steel rims and un-branded side pull brakes that wouldn't stop sh1t.

A few years back I would have said you couldn't give a bike like that away. But now, I'm not so sure. With its non aero brakes and downtube shifters, it's a vintage bike ready for l'eroica  :P

A quick search on ebay, and you will be persuaded that even £60 is a very generous offer.

Well that's the more blunt way of putting it but as usual he's dead right.

I might charge him to take it;)

Sue rode a bike we picked up from Freecycle, that the chap had been about to bin as no one had asked about it for several months. I pumped up the tyre, added some oil and she rode it until it did actually stop working. Then I took it to be recycled.

What Tors said

I sold a ribble winter audax in full working order, but with well-worn wheels, gears starting to be worn, for £100 and reckoned I got a good price.

IKEA 'deck chair' saddle. Really comfy in beer gardens 😉

Much what I thought. Being sold by a friend of a friend. I offered £50 thinking I was being generous friend came back with 'he wants £100'. I replied £60 tops and friend replied ' no, starting price £100'. I laughed and said goodbye.
