GN: The seismometer I assembled and help set up last week, at the school I work at, recorded a temor this morning.  :smug:

BN: It was the earthquake in Nepal.  :(

It's difficult to have any satisfaction in getting proof that it works, when there are such tragic consequences.  :-\
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

BN.  The Frankfurt Christmas market in Birmingham starts 6 months today.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

GN: Tossco eventually turned up, so I could get out on my ride to Long Itchington. Very pleasant weather it was too.

BN: The Offchurch Greenway, was more like a Muddy-Brownway and was, very likely, where I got my puncture.

GN: It was a slowie, so I managed to get back to the outskirts of Leamington to get the train to Warwick.

GN: Chiltern Railways have kindly installed a bike pump at Leamington Station, so I could ride the last half mile home.

VBN: When I got to the station, I went to get my wallet, but I had left the pocket open on my rack pack and it had fallen out. No chance of backtracking with a flat tyre.

VGN: When I called home, a kind soul in The Itch had called my landline number to say he'd found it. Phew! I shall call in this evening to collect it and offer Ray a reward.

Update: wallet collected fully intact. Salt of the earth-type people had found it, thankfully. I am utterly relieved to have it back, not only for the money, but the thought of all the ringing around to banks, etc. filled me with dread.

GN: Mrs and Ms Marco and me are in Sydney.

BN: category 2 cyclone hits Sydney with worst weather for a decade, 130kmh winds and heavy rain for the last two days and nights.

GN: Mrs Marco packed all the waterproofs...

BN: Sydneysiders don't recognise waterproofs as a valid clothing type and make do with umbrellas, which are bloody everywhere. Good choice for a cyclone...

We appear to have been there at the identical time! (we arrived on Sunday night, just in time....)

For added points, we managed to get caught in the 300mm-in-2-hours in Brisbane, resulting in a night on isolated high ground, with the camper van electrics plugged into the garage of some of the extras from Deliverance.

I expected to see kangaroos in Australia, I didn't expect them to be lining up two by two with their luggage.

Hurrah: I am at Fort Larrington for the weekend.

Bah: Apparently I wasn't supposed to be here until next weekend, which led to me being unable to switch off the burglar alarm, which in turn led to a visit from the rozzers and my having to spend two hours not going inside for fear of setting the bloody thing off again until Lt. Col. Larrington (retd.) get back from his hostipal appointment  >:(

I was told many years ago, that the rozzers would only come out if four alarms would go off in the same street*. Though I must say Hatton Gardens don't really count as a residential cul-de-sac.

*I was told by the alarm company when I was on the phone with them trying to reset the alarm I had set off - Thanks boss for not telling me, that there was an alarm on the property!

More good news: Our service provider lost BBC whilst the qualifier highlights were being shown, so glad to have caught the German version.

BN: I sat on my glasses, again. They did not like that.

GN: I was due an eye test.

BN: Initially this showed I had an eye pressure problem

GN: The follow-up, more accurate test showed no problems

GN: I got two pairs of varifocals, one sunglasses, for £163. I chose the 'safe to be sat on' frames for the everyday pair.

GN: My nephew's going on a four-day bike tour with his dad.
BN: He doesn't have a suitable bike for it, his paper-round bike being too heavy and rackless.
GN: I was able to give him my old black hybrid, which I've been meaning to sell for ages.
GN: This show's the use of keeping things!
BN: Not selling it.
GN: They've given us bikes in the past, so all square.
GN: More room in the bike shed.*
GN: I'd forgotten just how light that bike was.

*It's not actually a shed, but there is more room.

Hurrah: It's dedicated to me. MEMEMEMEMEMEMEME!!
Bah: It's also dedicated to Miss von Brandenburg :o. How did she manage to sneak in?  Bloody FOREIGNS, comin' 'ere an' takin' our jobs an' swans an' book dedications an' (melts into a puddle of outraged xenophobia)

BN: Mrs Cudzo's team got presents at work today.

BN: She got oven gloves with a company logo.

GN: This gives us something to laugh at (and a charity shop something to try to sell — or pulp).

I'd not heard of Nozama. Did they know that it's a Japanese surname, perhaps best known for an anime & TV character played by -

IIRC "Nozama" was coined by my chum Dai Infidel after a particularly stressful online shopping experience, when she averred that the Mega-Global Sounds Like A Big River Corporation of Seattle, USAnia was run by an evil madman by the name of Nozama bin Laden.
