Oops - forgot I had posted that question.

Bluebottle has it - they all played on Thin Lizzy albums.  Beacon and Collins are on Johnny the Fox and Helliwell played sax on Dancing in The Moonlight from Bad Reputation
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

Woohoo!

What band links a bloke with a beard in banana boots and a man who (in)famously sang whilst someone lost an ear?

Blondie?

Scratch that - just remembered who the man in banana boots was...

The answer is The Humblebums.

The links being Billy Connolly (used to wear Banana Boots on stage) and Gerry Rafferty (of Stealers Wheel, who did Stuck In The Middle, as used in Reservoir Dogs). Both were members of The Humblebums.

The ear-slicer was Mr Blonde, hence my first guess.

Bob Holness wasn't it? ;)

Ok...

How does a theoretical physicist link David Byrne to The Clash, via a notorious motel owner?

Landscape, isn't it?  They did "E=mc2" which is about Einstein, and "Norman Bates".  I'm not sure where The Clash come into it though.

Big Audio Dynamite did a song called "E=mc2" and their man Mick Jones was in The Clash

but was the Landscape track about Norman Bates ? I getcha now, they also had a song about Batesey

Ah yes...the Landscape song was "Einstein A Go Go".  I was confusing it with the chorus, which is

I'll set one, then.

Where exactly did Jim Morrison record most of his vocals for the album "L.A. Woman"?  Clue: he was drinking a LOT of beer during the sessions.

I am an ardent Young fan......both songs precede "Tonight's the Night",which is probably the darkest thing Neil has ever done. Too much drugs, too many deaths.
Now, time to think.....
