Just as I was about to register brianinnesphotography.co.uk as a domain name for my photograpy website, I found that there is also another chap called Brian Innes, who is also into landscape photography:
Here is his site:
http://brianinnesphotography.co.uk/albums
And he seems to share the same passion for landscape photography!
Now i have a couple of sites (which haven't been updated in a while),
http://www.brianinnesphotography.blogspot.com where I have some blog posts on Linux and Photography, as well as a recently made wordpress.com site http://www.brianinnesphotography.wordpress.com
Now rather than cause confusion between the two of us and our work, I've sent him a message via his website contact page to make him aware that he has a doppleganger namesake, and that I'd be happy to rename my sites.
My main interests are landscapes / panoramics / long exposures in Scotland. But I haven't the faintest idea of what to rename my sites too.
Any ideas welcome!

Brianseye ? (as in Brian I)

A good idea, David Martin, but it'd probably upset the Grammar Police! ;)
However "Brianseye Photography" may also give the impression that I am an into Ophthalmic Photography, rather than landscapes or nature! :o ;D
-
Or opthalmic selfies?

Brianseye.com exists - about macular degeneration.
Domain names are a pain in general. Every time you think of a decent one, some other bugger has registered it already - either that or it's the name of a company or it resembles a trademark and is off-limits. There's an author called Innes Brian, for example.
Rather than trying to build one out of your name, you could base it on your subject matter: e.g. beyondthemist.co.uk doesn't exist.

That's what I'm thinking T42, rather than base my own domain name on my own name, try and think up something which relates to my preferred subject matter, landscapes and nature photography. I am liking "beyondthemist" though! :-) But I'll see what I can think up.
:)

Aww, I was going to go for "Beyond The Image", but that's already taken as well.... >:(

I still have a domain called uncertain-focus.com, but it's not currently hosted. I keep telling myself I might just start it up again but just now my PBase account costs ~$25/year and is very convenient.

I could use the like of flicker / pbase, but still the issue of there being another Brian Innes who is also a photographer!
For the moment, the best I can come up with is BTIPhotography, which is the initials of my full name. A bit of a boring name though...
-
How about this, which just popped into my head:
www.btifotowerks.co.uk or btifotoworks.co.uk?
My initials, plus "fotowerks" kind of sums up my photography style, leaning more towards the technical aspects of hdr tonemapped panoramas. Plus it sounds Kraftwerky as well!
??? Or
-
If you want to sound more Kraftwerky then make that fotowerken. But why pretend to be German?
-
i'm not sure your initials are needed, unless you become really well known!
-
having worked for 2 companies with stupid names, you need something you can tell people without having to spell it out so btifotowerk would be a pain in the proverbial....

Why pretend to be uncertain at focusing, T42? ;) :P

Mike, I'm not intending to be a "Professional" photographer, and are you suggesting the name I've chosen is "stupid"? ::-)
-
itakphoties.com
-
Anyhoo, it seems my chosen name of BTIFotoWerks is awfy close to PhotoworksUK. https://photoworks.org.uk/
-
InnesandOutsofPhotography.com?
-
It's a good job you don't do weapons or that brewery would be after you like a shot.
-
innescapes.com?
-
Sounds like an endoscopy specialist.
-
I was thinking Batman, actually.
Have we had Brianscapes?
ETA - Innescapable?

False modesty.

Anyways, while BTIFotowerks does sound nice and interesting and kraftwerky, as you say T42 it does give the impression that I'm based in Germany...
??? ???

how about brianinnes.photography ?

A good suggestion, but far to similar to the site owned by the other Brian Innes, a professional photographer and member of the Royal Photographic Society based in Edinburgh, while I'm based in Dunfermline, Fife. :-\

no, of course not, and sorry if thats how it came across, but it would have the same complications of having to spell it out to people every time you're giving your email address or url. (the 2 companies I was at with stupid names weren't photo companies)
-
No worries Mike.
ANyway, I'm probably going to be going with BTIPhotography as my website / social media page name. A pretty boring name, but at least it is simple and straightforward!
-
And thats www.btiphotography.co.uk purchased for 3 years! ;D
-
I note with interest that the domain name "innerbasin.com" is available
(this is, of course, an anagram)

And, given his penchant for wildlife, the name of a wildlife reserve in Angus.
