Merry Christmas, one & all!

Merry Chrimble everyone.

Nadolig Llawen.
Look out for the Mari Lwyd.

May your humbugs be appropriately bah'd.

Happy Non-Denominational Winter Festival!
Miss von Brandenburg notes that it was Christmas yesterday, wot with her being a FOREIGN Heathen an' t'ing. I expect disgraced former International Development Secretary Piggi Patel's deport-o-bots will shortly be using this as a reason to revoke her BRITISH citizenship and ship her off to the Fatherland asap, together with her small wooden pyramids that revolve by candle-power.
-
And I got up at 5:15 to have breakfast, so I can get a ride in before the festivities start.
Happy Christmas all

It’s a white Christmas here in Germany.
Well, for the Brits. The Germans had their Christmas yesterday,

Blessed Yule, to all, from moi, Olive and Grunhilda. “Vive la bicyclette””

Imagine waking up with carp breath
-
I don’t know Germans who eat carp. We had Bratwurst with Rotkohl yesterday but they often have potato salad.
-
Have a wonderful Christmas all :).May you all get the cycling 🎁 you wished for
-
Merry Christmas everyone! May your day be peaceful and free of cycling conundrums.

More Eastern Europe I think. Poland, Czech rep and Slovakia. Local fishmonger used to get it in for the Poles at Xmas.
I once had carp in a restaurant in France. It was really good. Smoked carp as a starter, then main was carp fillet stuffed with almonds and served in a cream based sauce.
-
Aye, Merry Christmas, all. The French had their réveillon last night, which is also an after-midnight effort with an XS of grub & drink, so the streets are dead quiet this morning apart from the odd hardy soul battling the hangover/dyspepsia with fresh O2 & drizzle.
-
Happy Christmas everybody! We're staying with daughter for the duration so got woked by 2 year old granddaughter at some ungodly hour. Still, at least I'm not on cooking duties.
-
Tigs (8 year old ginger cat) decided to transform into a kitten at 4.45am, chewing my feet and charging up and down the stairs. He's stoned on catnip now.
-
Merry Christmas all,
I can beat that 4:45, with no 1 son having a 2am seizure and then sitting laughing his head off while Mrs ED tried to give him a drink.
-
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and many more of them.
-
Christmas! Does that mean I have to get out of bed and "Be Nice to People"?
Have a Lovely day, one and all.

Our cats have been unusually frisky this morning.

Nope. You can stay in bed all day if you wish.
We're both in various stages of winter cold / flu / undetected covid. I am at day 10 and mllePB at day 5. The tests consistently show negative for covid but we haven't been taking any chances.
Christmas Day has been postponed for a week.

Carp is a traditional dish in southern Alsace, sliced between the vertebrae and deep-fried in batter. Billions of bloody bones and litres of grease.
-
Just Happy Christmas to all of you - no details!
-
Neither carp nor turkey have been consumed here. But lots of other stuff has.

O.M.G.
Urrrp!
Zzz zzz.

Remember, you are under no pressure to feel happy at Christmas.
You can continue to hold grudges and plan revenge as normal

We had chicken here, described by the lady of the house as the biggest chicken in Christendom. I question the veracity of the statement, but it was big. Lots left in-spite of feeding seven.
Just been out for a short constitutionally and the most difficult decision now is whether to have a glass of red or a glass of Brewdog.
-
Which Brewdog?
-
which red?
It was salmon for me, very simply done in a hot pan, plenty of salt and pepper, crispy skin, and a barolo to wash it down with that did not overwhelm it. The veggies had a nice pastry filled with a red wine, sausage, sage and chestnut filling, which was also good. Chocolate fondants were well appreciated judging by the silence and rapidity of disappearance. It may have been the boozy prunes in them. :D
-
The red is a Pinot noir and the Brewdog an Punk IPA, although we have a selection pack of other BD available and there’s some Hobgoblin Ruby available as well. There are other wines as well, but only the Pinot is currently open.
-
Late to this as usual.
We have had goose, with 'all the trimmings', plus a rather good Christmas pudding with clotted cream.
The current wine is an Italian red from our local-ish wine shop. It's rather nice, but I can't be bothered to go downstairs to check on what it's called.
We have had a quiet day, but that is our usual habit.
Merry Christmas! And may next year be kinder to us all.
-
We had a 5 o’clock linner or dunch, whatever. Slow roast pork shoulder, garlic and rosemary roast pots and honey roast parsnips, peas, carrots, sprouts and leeks sweated in butter. Oh, an ALL the crackling was edible.
Have a great festive season all.
-
Had to have a three-hour break 'twixt goose and Xmas pud. Now incapable of movement. Send crane.
-
Strolled around the North Downs all day. Came back to eat cake and drink sherry. Talked to families. Just put the turkey in the oven. Drinking a Deya bitter. The porch, I fear is not cold enough for beer today so will revert to fridge. Listening to Middle Kids who quite splendidly don’t fucking care.
All pretty chilled really. Christmas dinner will be about 11pm though.

I thought we were late enough at seven! Enjoy!

This thread reminds me of a lovely expression. "He's as thick as a boxing day poo "
-
It might be 10.30pm if I get my act together and do a bit of oven Tetris with the other components.
Santa bought us another nine bottles of gin. We might need to move house to find room for the collection.

Crane after goose? Are you mad ???
-
4 bottles of gin today. 2 of which are the last of the Eden Mill hop gin.
-
10.30pm proved optimistic. But we have Cloudwater and Biig Piig.
-
Done. Verdant and WILDES.

Well that's an obvious one. The red. Life's too short for unoriginal beer...
I had planned to spend the whole weekend cycling, but my knee gave out. Having found myself with an empty day, I invited my ex over. We baked a couple of cakes, and roasted a beef fillet I happened to have in the fridge marinading in a peppercorn marinade. Served with crispy roast potatoes, runner beans cooked in bacon, broccoli, and gravy. All followed by xmas pud. Due to poor planning dinner was finally served at 2050.
