Don't need to be cycling related, just share anything you fancy that you're plotting for next year, whether sensible or slightly pie in the sky..
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

This Unit wants very badly to return to sunny Nevada for the Mad People In Funny Bicycles wossname.  I'll even forego the usual road trip if I can get there and back without contracting plague or the self-isolation virus.

I'd quite like to retire.
I was thinking about it two years ago, but there seemed little point when I would still be stuck in the house, probably at the same desk staring at a computer, only not being paid for it.

I'm hoping I will regain enough fitness and motivation to join a group of my ex-colleagues on a ride from Vegas to the Virgin 'Spaceport' at White Plains. I also am hoping to have completed the self-built extension to my house, and to have finished a 3D reconstruction of NAS Jacksonville for a flight simulator program - a project which includes something over 1500 buildings to model!

  • Watch some chaps erect our new shed. Move the gardening tat into it and put up the "shed poster" ;D.(oh yes, and I'll need to paint that and various fences)
  • Attempt to replace blower resistor in car without making anything go bang
  • Dig the scaffold plank (actually it might be a railway sleeper) out of the garage roof, sand it, varnish it, get some hollow concrete blocks and make a weatherproof bench for perching in the sun (humans or cats).
  • New kitchen (hopefully).
  • Go under the floor again, make it as far as the kitchen without going wibble and see if there is gas pipe anywhere near where I want the hob
  • Run some cat5 cable under the floor.
  • Annoy the various insulating companies again  :-\
  • Get the loft floored and move all the shit up there
  • Start making pizza again (subject to new kitchen)
  • Build a pond. Wait for the wildlife to flock to it. No really, there had better be dragonflies
  • Attempt to improve the clay soil. Ha. Ha. Ha
  • Post those really great big heavy paving stones lurking at the back of the garden on Freegle in the hope that some champion weightlifters will remove them
  • Dig up the cherry laurel (see also, Freegle)
  • Move the huge pile of bark chips. Acquire a mattock (I like the word mattock). Do extreme violence to the leylandii roots with the vague aim of planting a wildlife hedge up there, eventually.
  • Plant lots of beastie friendly plants
  • Bask in the sun, like a lizard, listening to the humming and whatnot
  • Replace the crap shower and bath with a decent shower and cabinet (subject to funds)
  • Stoke the kitties
  • Maybe even ride my bike
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Ride my bike(s) more
Go on planned cycling trips to France in June/July (2)
Master use of my small CNC engraving/cutting machine
More woodwork projects - for pleasure/own use and for money
Service and repair more bikes (for money)
Refinish all the kitchen cupboard doors and drawers
Go to a 20-20 or 100 cricket match with two of our grandchildren
Enjoy a significant birthday (I'm now including the ones that end with a 5 as being significant)

My current plans mostly involve not getting COVID and barakta gaining sufficient mobility to be left unattended for the duration of a decent bike ride.  Everything else is a stretch goal at this point, not least the statement of intent I posted to the York Rally thread.

I'm guessing that is under the guidance of the physioterrorists?

Get back to running and riding. This year was better than last, but the last couple of months rather fizzled out.

Take more and better photos of people.

There’s bits of the back garden that need some slog.

Go camping
That's one of the few things we did do in 2021 having figured that cycling out of London and camping was a fairly covid safe holiday. But it rekindled my enthusiasm so hopefully more in 2022.
My real dream is to be able to go to Harwich and get on the Stena ferry once again for some quality Netherlands and maybe further afield exploring.

Remove the vast and trunkless teetering piles of crap from this room, and pay My Man to redecorate it, involving damp-proof insulation and lots of built-in book-cases. Then move the piano in here, where there is a lot more space for it than in its current home. This will not be cheap.

Now I've said that I want to do this, perhaps I will get a round tuit.

That trip to Shetland that I mentioned.

See more of our siblings.

See less of our children. That's not an ambition or a plan, it's just a strong possibility what with our sons moving much further away from us.

Finish paying for the car and actually keeping this one.

I have a Azub tricon gr  recumbent trike ordered which if all goes well should arrive here in February and I have plans to explore some bridleways. I will still have the the trice and the ez3 trike. The new trike will not be e assist but have some nice low gearing as speed is not my talent 😉. I am planning to take apollo camping in Essex/Suffolk in the spring, possibly April/may Sudbury way. I am also hoping to get to the York rally riding up and maybe back. If I can convince apollos social worker to let parlent House take apollo up to York I will bring him but I suspect that he will say its too far away for the driver to go  :'(.
Also I would like to do a autumn camp maybe using twitys tipis.
I will aim for around 3000 miles in the coming year
My final ambition for this year is to survive till the next one  ;)
the slower you go the more you see

Take the kids to Morocco at Easter, drive around the desert, mountains and oasis valleys for a couple of weeks and blow their little minds.

This. I managed a grand total of two bike rides in 2021... :o

    Oh, and go camping.

Also this. I managed zero camping trips in 2021, despite buying a new tent and sleeping bag...

Do some form of exercise. I’ve not ridden a bike off the turbo in nearly 2 years, and precious little on it. No idea why, just lost the love. Maybe try getting back to it, or to the gym, or even running.

Get the cottage rewired (shudder), the bathroom replaced, the damp sorted and redecorate from top to bottom. All that requires a) planning and b) my wife decamping to her son’s for (much of) the duration.

    Sell surplus stuff.

    Replace the cooker hood.

Sort out my pitiful occupational pensions before my 65th in mid-March.

Take a bus to Chepstow and walk to the source of the Wye.

Ride to York and back, with some other places in between.

Cruise round the Odd Down race circuit on a touring bike while energetic people race past me on 'bents.

    Move house.

Possibly formulate some vague plans for 2023...
