3/6.

Interesting word today. My 3rd was a very very lucky guess.

PSA: There's a dark theme and colour blind mode in the settings.  Because they couldn't be arsed to make it accessible from the outset.

My first go today, got it in 3.

Presumably there is a sensible way to attack this, a best first word? I used "peace" as a and e are very common letters. Is there a five letter word containing the five letters used most commonly in five letter words? If there is then that would be the best first one to try it seems to me.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

My first go today, too.  Got it in three, thanks to a lucky second guess.

Yesterday, I used TEARS as my first guess for precisely that reason. Today I used SNARE. I would avoid using a word with a duplicated letter for a first guess.

According to Wikipedia, T is the most common first letter of words in English, so TEARS is always going to be a strong candidate for matches.

I use Louie as it has 4 of the 5 vowels. My approach is to work out what the vowels are, and go from there.

Remember letters can repeat (which made Banal harder than expected yesterday)

My initial guess today and yesterday was EARTH for the reasons given by Citoyen.

TODAY seemed like a good contender for a first word, but I like Quix’ first word with so many vowels in it

No. I was trying to use as many unused letters as possible, but wanted to keep my eye in with the U in the right place. That was intended to make me think of words with a U in the middle.
