MP3 players ? Not phones though!
« on: 07 April, 2022, 10:51:48 pm »
Looking at getting a portable music player for our son that's not a phone. He's clever and with an phone he'd find a way to get into things we don't think he's mature enough.  Trust me we caught him m watching YouTube on his Nintendo switch after we took his tablet off him for watching inappropriate videos!

Any recommendations for cheap but decent?

Need to be reasonable for music, podcasts and audio books but other than that we're not bothered about other functions they might have such as pedometer or videos.

Sandisk Clip is cheap and simple.

Along the same lines as the OP, after an MP3 player that:
works with bluetooth
either can store 120Gb or takes ssd cards (or the like)
no other features (e-reader etc) required
as cheap as possible

Seen Timmkoo, prob not what the OP needs as, while being <£100 it plays videos.
The last time I bought an mp3 player was about 10 years ago so I'm well confused by concepts such as using them as e-readers, apps, or anything that isn't music. (I still use a nokia brick as my phone).
Any thoughts on this
TIMMKOO?  I failed to find any proper reviews online

We got two sandisk mp3 players,  the waterproof,  sports one. Avoid! The socket covers for USB charging/upload and jack socket come off too easily and area very hard to get back on. We've not managed it. Sound levels are very,  very quiet. Absolutely poor performance.

I've got one of these. Lasted a number years (don't know how many but I bought it when I lived up North and I moved in 2019). Belt clip has broken off and there's no waterproof covers. It's pretty flimsy and I'm not sure how it's survived so long.

The low volume is due to EU regulations. Set the region to rest of world, and it should go louder. Or try better headphones.
I rarely bother with the socket sovers, I don't think it is is really waterproof anyway.

I have a Philips dictaphone which can play MP3s. It only has 4gb capacity, but because it takes AAA batteries I can have a spare set when I'm out for a long time - it effectively has infinite battery life!
